Butler High School Project Prom is giving you an opportunity to Flock a Friend

Butler Project Prom will place a flock of flamingos to migrate in your friend’s yard for a donation of $40.00. Your friend will know who sent the flock, so don’t be surprised is you get flocked next. 

Flamingos will remain in your friend’s yard for two days. Once the flamingos have landed you can drive by and get the full effect of your donation.

In order to Flock your Friend, they must live inside the Butler City limits. Donation check should be payable to Butler Project Prom.

This morning the Butler Police Department on Fulton Street was flocked!! All in good fun of course!

Obituary - Rick Dean Miller

Rick Dean Miller, of Belton, Missouri went home to be with our Lord on August 20, 2022. He was 66 years old.

A celebration of life will take place at Willow Creek Friends Church 9700 Wornall, Kansas City, Missouri at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Rick was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 25, 1955 to Forest E. Miller and R. Pauline Long. After graduating from William Chrisman High School Rick continued his education at Park University, where he received his BA in English in 1978. Rick worked for over 20 years for Bayer Healthcare LLC Animal Health. Rick was joined in marriage with Caroll Jean Miller (Whitted) in 1978. 

In this union they were blessed with three children: Erica, Colin, and Randy. Rick was a member of the Kansas City St. Andrew’s Society. He had a passion for model building, books, bad jokes, and his family.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother in 2011, his father in 2016, and his wife Caroll in October of 2012.

He is survived by his three loving children: Erica Black and husband Tom; Colin Miller; and Randy Miller.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the publics assistance in locating a missing / runaway juvenile from the LaCygne area.
William Furrer left his residence on Friday 8/19/2022.

Last confirmed sighting of William was approximately 4 PM on Monday 8/21/2022, William was observed walking eastbound on K152 near Ullery Road, carrying a duffel bag.

BCMH Phone Upgrade set for Wednesday August 24th

PHONE UPGRADE: On Wednesday, August 24, Bates County Memorial Hospital will upgrade its phone systems starting at 3:00 pm with a scheduled completion date at 7 pm.

This upgrade will cause continuous, intermittent interruptions to phone services at the hospital and Family Care Clinics, including issues with receiving and making calls, voicemail access, auto greeting attendants, and sending/receiving faxes.

BCMH apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause to our patients and their families. If you have concerns, please contact our operators prior to 3 pm on Wednesday by calling 660-200-7000 (hospital) or 660-200-3627 (Family Care Clinic scheduling). Obituary - Logan Eugene Gray

Logan Eugene Gray, age 75, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at his home in Clinton, Missouri. Services for Gene will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton with visitation from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service. 

Inurnment to follow in Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be left to GVMH Foundation for Cancer and Rehab. or the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Logan Eugene Gray was born on November 5, 1946 in Clinton, Missouri and was the only child to Logan Thomas Gray and Mary Louise (Lindstrom) Gray. On June 14, 1975 he married Pamala Sue Lynch at First Christian Church, Clinton, Missouri.

Gene graduated from Clinton High School in 1964 and from there entered the National Guards from196-1970. Gene spent 25 years with Safeway Groceries and from there worked with the Clinton School District for 5 years until he found a new passion being an Auctioneer for over 20 years.

Gene and Pam are active members of the First Presbyterian Church and Gene was an Elder of the church. Gene was also a former Sunrise Optimist member, Volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drive, was an Assistant Scout Manager for Troop 430, and a Little League Coach.

Gene loved to fish and quail hunt and upon retirement you would find him doing one or both, after his morning coffee with his friends. Besides auctioneering, Gene found interest in antiquing but mostly enjoyed spending time with his two children (Chris and Jeff) and their families. Most every weekend you would find Gene on the sidelines of a soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball or swim meet cheering on his two grandchildren Hudson and Ella.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Logan Thomas Gray and Mary Louise Gray and his grandparents, Well and Chloe Gray and Bert and Elizabeth Lindstrom.

Survivors include his wife Pam Gray of the home, his two sons, Christopher David Gray, wife Ally Gray and two grandchildren Hudson (11) and Ella (14) Gray whom reside in Leawood, Kansas, Jeffrey Thomas Gray who resides in Overland Park Kansas along with other cousins and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Friends of Adrian Scout Troop 238 are hosting their 2nd Annual "Dust'n and Bust'n" Trap Shoot Saturday September 24th at Settles Ford Gun Club in Adrian MO.

Registration 9:30am birds start flying 10:00am

Both trap houses will be open to provide for a speedy yet fun shoot.

Obituary - Christopher Todd Stockton

Christopher Todd Stockton, age 60, La Cygne, Kansas passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022. Chris was born on October 18, 1961 in Lawton, Oklahoma the son of Robert Dale and Joyce Anne(Lewis) Stockton. He served his country in the United States Air Force.

Chris was united in marriage to Cathleen Adams on November 1, 1986. They moved to the Tanglewood Lake Community near La Cygne in October of 2003. Chris worked as janitor from 2008 until 2019 before retiring from the Prairie View School District. He was very active in the Tanglewood Community, helping organize many gatherings and activities.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time relaxing with his family and friends. He and Cathy took their first cruise in 2016, and they have been hooked ever since. He was preceded in death by his parents, and maternal grandmother, Delores Stinson.

Chris is survived by his wife, Cathy, three sons and families, Cory Stockton, wife Megan and son Casey, Dalton Stockton, wife Lacy and son Beckett, Ben Stockton and family, and his sister, Diana LaSalle Mussett. He was expecting two new grandchildren in just over a month.

A gathering to celebrate Chris's Life will be held from 4 to 6 pm Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Tanglewood Shelter House, 37 Chickie Dr, La Cygne, KS 66040. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
