Pitts arrested again in Bates County

On August 11, 2022 a female subject came into the lobby of the Sheriff's Office to report that her boyfriend called her and stated that he had shot himself in the head and he was parked outside a residence on County Road 221 in Adrian.

The Deputy responded to the address he provided and were unable to locate him. Dispatch conducted a phone ping on the subject's phone that gave them a different location for the subject. An area canvass was then conducted of that location.

A short time later the subject, identified as Timothy Pitts (DOB 7/24/1989), was located near a residence on Aaron Lane in Adrian. Pitts was standing in the shade by a GMC truck. Pitts advised that he had not shot himself and he was not suicidal. After being checked for injuries Pitts was released from the area.

The Deputies then inspected the truck that Pitts had been standing by. The VIN on the truck matched the VIN for a stolen truck that had been reported a few weeks earlier. The Deputies then began an area canvass to attempt to locate Pitts again.

Approximately 20 minutes later he was seen entering an apartment on 8th street in Adrian. The Deputy gave verbal commands for Pitts to exit the residence. Pitts then jumped out of a window on the south side of the residence. A short foot pursuit ensued and Pitts was apprehended. Pitts was then transported to the Bates County Jail and put on a 24 hour investigative hold.

Pitts was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is currently being held on a $30,000 cash only bond.
