Dense Fog Advisory in effect thru 9:00 a.m. Saturday
Dense Fog Advisory in effect for portions of eastern Kansas and SW to central to NE Missouri through 9 AM this morning. Be prepared for rapid changes to visibility over short distances with visibility dropping to under a half mile at times.
Fort Scott Kansas man injured in southwest Missouri motorcycle crash
On September 1st around 9:00 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jasper County along with Jasper County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident on Missouri Highway 171 around 1 mile north if Asbury, Missouri.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 19 year old Brylan I. Fortman of Fort Scott, Kansas was northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the roadway, and overturned.
Brylan I. Fortman sustained moderate injuries and he was transported to Ascension Via Christi in Pittsburg, Kansas for treatment.

Marilyn Elaine Woolf, age 74 of Belton, Missouri died Friday, August 26, 2022 at Willow Springs Senior Living in Spring Hill, TN. She was born October 5, 1947 to Marion and Hazel Jones in Butler, Missouri.
Marilyn, one of two children, graduated from Butler High School in 1965 and was involved in cheerleading and baton twirling and these are some of her favorite memories as a child. Marilyn attended Florida College and later received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from University of Missouri – Kansas City. She was a teacher in elementary, middle, and high schools in Florida and Missouri. She was very involved in her church and loved writing and singing hymns. She enjoyed game shows, spending time with family playing games that she created, and loved walking and taking care of her dogs. She had a kind, generous heart and touched many with her selflessness and giving spirit.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jack Woolf of Belton, Missouri; two sons, Jason Woolf and wife Angie of Thompsons Station, TN and Jeff Woolf of Union, KY; one daughter, Angie Marie Joplin; one sister, Sandra Burris and husband Doug of Lee’s Summit, MO; one nephew, Kirk Burris and wife Sheri of Lee’s Summit, MO; nine grandchildren, Elijah Woolf, Jack Mason Woolf, Brady Woolf, Krysta Hewlett, Natalie Woolf, Maggie Murray, Jake Woolf, Liam Sudduth, and Jase Woolf; and two great-grandchildren, Harvey Hewlett and Miles Hewlett. She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Mark Burris.

Adrian Blackhawks rollover the Slater Wildcats
The Adrian Blackhawks move to 2-0 on the season with a 48-6 win tonight at Slater! Next week, Adrian has our home opener against Lone Jack.
As a reminder, we will be recognizing the 2002 State Championship team next Friday!
Also, if any student who attended the youth football camp this summer wears their camp shirt at any home game, they’ll receive free admission into that game.
Butler Bears run away from Sherwood Marksmen 50-13 final score!
The Butler Bears beat the Sherwood Marksmen tonight in the home opener and remain undefeated (2-0) on the early season.
The Bears scored on the opening kickoff of the game when Sherwood fumbled the kick which was scooped and scored by Senior Mason Diehl. Sherwood scored on the next drive and took the lead on Butler 7-6.
After trailing 7-6 the Bears awoke and never looked back leading the contest 36-7 at halftime and finally putting the Marksmen away 50-13.
The Bears will host the Fort Scott Tigers next Friday Night September 9th. Let's Pack the house and cheer on the Bears!!!

Obituary - Alta June (Holmes) Springer
Alta June Springer, age 93 of Prescott, Kansas passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was born the daughter of Crandall and Cleo Phillips Holmes on January 21, 1929 at Prescott, Kansas. She graduated from Prescott High School.
She married Clarence Springer on June 19, 1947, they were married seventy-one years when he preceded her in death in 2018. June was a very social person, she was a great cook, pianist and seamstress, she enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Prescott Baptist Church. June had a very thankful spirit and taught her children about her love for the Lord.
She was also the primary caregiver for many of the elderly members of the family as well as activity director at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home and was the first to help others in their wellbeing and needs. June was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sons, Gerald, Steven and Rodney Springer, four brothers, Jim, Crandall Jr., Bob and Wayne Holmes and a sister, Cleo Ann Calhoun. She is survived by a son, Randy (Diane) Springer, two daughters, Charlene Brannon, Nancy (Doug) Neubert, sixteen grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery.
