Man arrested after police pursuit

On November 2, 2022 Holden Police Officer/CRT member was involved in a vehicle pursuit that led outside the city limits of Holden.
 
Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Members of the Johnson County Crime Resolution Team (CRT) and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit. The pursuit continued in the western side of Johnson County, before returning to Holden.
 
The suspect, Daniel Caswell, 27 years of age from Pleasant Hill, Missouri was taken into custody at a residence in the 900 block of South Lexington, Holden.
 
Caswell was transported to the Johnson County jail pending formal charges and held on the following warrants:

-Cass County felony property damage and probation violation for possession of controlled substance
-Higginsville Odessa PD several traffic violations warrants
-Jackson co felony unlawful use of weapon
-Lafayette probation violation possession and domestic assault felony x2
-Pleasant Hill numerous ordinance violations warrants
7 – felonies and numerous misdemeanor

Ellett Memorial Hospital November Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Heather Payton, November Employee of the Month! Heather has been with the EMH family since December 2014 and is currently managing the HR department. 

She is willing to help other departments when they are short on help, steps up to do things to help make people's jobs easier for them.

She does her best to make people feel like a member of the Ellett Family. Heather is always friendly to everyone and enjoys her workday. She is understanding of other's feelings & needs and can make the best out of a difficult situation.

We are blessed to have Heather and her awesome personality! Congrats again Heather!!!

Carol Jean Christopher, age 81 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, October 31, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born September 7, 1941 to Ellis Leroy and Virginia Fern Bitner McElwain in Butler, Missouri.

Jean is survived by her husband, Joe Christopher of Butler, Missouri; a son, Chad Christopher of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Debbie Cole (Don) of Butler, Missouri and Darcie Anderson (Bob Beilfuss) of Overland Park, Kansas; three brothers, Glen McElwain (Linda), Vern McElwain (Barbara) and Bill McElwain (Sharon) all of Butler, Missouri; a sister, Connie Eidson (Danny) of Urich, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Gillis, Hilari, Bethanie, Gabby, Kristopher, Zach, Lacy, Melanie and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Kimbry and Easton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, DeAnn Craft.

Hay fire in rural Clinton

Yesterday afternoon the Tightwad Fire Protection District toned out for mutual aide for Clinton Fire Department on a hay fire. 

Approximately 60-100 bales were burned. We provided water back up. 

We had 2 tankers and 4 fire fighters on the scene. Along with Clinton’s two trucks and 4 firefighters.

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Announces November Employee of the Month

Clinton, Mo. – (Nov. 3, 2022) – We are pleased to announce that Lori Oswald is the November Employee of the Month.

Oswald has been an employee of GVMH since February 2018 and currently works as the Information Technology (IT) Secretary.

Coworkers who nominated Oswald say that she is the glue that binds their department together. From managing busy schedules, to answering Help Desk calls during overflow, she ensures that all things are done to the highest quality. Even in stressful situations, Oswald keeps everyone on track and is extremely optimistic and reassuring. She makes everyone feel like family.

As the Employee of the Month, Oswald received a GVMH gift and her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital. She is also one of 12 finalists for the 2022-2023 Employee of the Year award.

The Pennell in Butler closed permanently after 9 years

It is with great sadness after almost 9 years the Pennell is permanently closed. The lack of a work force is the reasoning for closing. 

Thank you to our wonderful customers that constantly supported us, and to the employees that have given it their all for all these years.

The Hotel will continue to operate. The lobby and bar are available to rent for events. We will miss you all. Thank you again. Mike and Pam
