Mr. Hunner was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned many medals while honorably serving in the Marines, achieving the rank of Corporal. Larry had trained to be a mechanic in the military and then he worked as a welder at Allis Chalmers. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always there for his children and grandchildren through their ups and downs and would help them along the way if they needed it. Being retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting coins, playing cards on the computer and teaching his grandkids how to work on cars. He was always encouraging them to be the best that they could be and supported them in doing whatever they wanted to do and be. He spent his last months out in the country, sitting on the front porch watching the birds, sunrises and sunsets, while he was enjoying the country air.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Frank Hunner; mother, Ida Burton; step-father, Edgar Burton; and grandson, Khai Ray Hunner. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gwen Hunner, of the home; his children: Mike S. Larry will be deeply missed and the pain of missing him will never go away, but we are reminded of how lucky we have been to have him for as long as we did. Until we meet again. Semper Fi.
