A quick update from Michael G's Greenhouses

I have been gradually getting ready for next spring. I have all the ferns started, this week I had almost 300 fancy elephant ears come in from Florida from a new supplier. I worked quite a few early mornings last month getting all the patented plugs ordered for March. This month I try to get seeds ordered. I turned 70 last May, when the Bible says the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, I get that totally.

On a good day it takes 12 hours to get 8 hours of work done. I am glad I have others help in the spring. One of my youthful fantasies was to only sell what I could produce at this stage of life, the reality is if I did I would not be open very long until it was all gone.

I have been blessed with good help, fairly good health, and a ton of good loyal customers, so next year will be pedal to the metal again. I am not a fan of winter, I think bears have the right idea, hole up and sleep! See you all in the spring, if I don't oversleep.

Happy 70th Wedding Anniversary

Ron and Janice Bolser of Rich Hill celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 19, 2022. Ron and the former Janice Wheatley were married at Happy Hill Church in rural Rich Hill on October 19, 1952.

Both are graduates of Rich Hill High School. In honor of the milestone, their daughters hosted a private gathering at the Bolser home that included flowers, a cake, and a commemorative 70th anniversary plate.

Well-wishers sent over 40 cards as well as flowers and champagne. The afternoon was spent visiting, playing cards and viewing photos from the recent family vacation to Estes Park, Colorado.

Shown is their wedding photo, a current photo, and a snapshot of the family in Estes Park. Vacation photo L to R pictures Janice Bolser, Ron Bolser, and daughters Jill Galate, Sharon Love, and Janell Ledford. May you always have love to share, health to spare, and friends that care.

State Farm Student Athlete of the week Brandon Hammett

This week’s State Farm student athlete of the week is freshman Brandon Hammett. Brandon is a member of the cross country team in Butler. He was nominated by his Coach Madison Brownrigg. Coach Brownrigg stated Brandon has broke the school record multiple times this season, and he recently qualified for the state meet and will be running in tomorrow in Columbia, MO.

When we asked Brandon to describe what it takes to become an elite athlete he stated “it takes consistent hard work.” Brandon left shortly after his award to head to Columbia to compete. It was a pleasure speaking with Brandon and we wish him the best of luck this weekend!!
