Obituary - Patricia L. Leach

Patricia Louise Leach, 90, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at her home in Harrisonville. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Patricia was born January 12, 1932 in Flat River, Missouri, a daughter of Herbert and Jewell (Reed) Seal. 

Pat was united in marriage to John Alvin Leach on May 31, 1951 in Farmington, Missouri. John was in the military, and after living all over the United States, they retired to Harrisonville in 1966. Patricia earned her LPN degree and worked at Cass Regional Medical Center and numerous nursing homes in the Harrisonville area. 

She loved to cook and was an excellent caregiver to everyone. She was an avid mushroom hunter and had a love for flowers, especially Irises.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, John R. Leach; a grandson, Jeremy Leach; a great-granddaughter, Joselynn Leach; and her sister, Lois. She is survived by one son, Richard D. Leach of Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Brenda G. Wyatt of Harrisonville, MO; daughter-in-law, Patricia Leach of Harrisonville, MO; grandchildren: Stephen Leach, Matthew Levi Griffin, Jimmy B. Leach (Richella), and John Aric Leach (Emily Lynn); great-grandchildren: Madison Leach, Aron Nicole Leach, Scarlett Griffin, Kenlie Gottsch, Levi Griffin, Ryder O'Connell, Cynthia Griffin, Corbin Leach, Krista Willis, Kaleb Deterding, Evlyn Leach, Gwenyth Leach, Lily Leach, and Finnegan Leach; and one great-great-granchild, Carson.

Obituary - Caroline M. Rasmussen

Caroline Marie Rasmussen age 35 of Gladstone, Missouri departed this life Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at her home in Gladstone, Missouri.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Kansas City, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sherwood Center, Kansas City, Missouri and may be sent in care of Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Obituary - Janie Droz Nunn

Janie Droz Nunn, age 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.Janie was born on October 5, 1948, in Rich Hill, MO to Glenn R. and Dorothy L. (Jennings) Droz.

Janie grew up in Rich Hill, where she enjoyed an active school life, including band and cheerleading. She attended Central Missouri State University and University of Missouri Columbia, graduating in
1970. She later earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education.

Janie taught elementary school for 30 years, with the majority of her career spent teaching third grade at Belair Elementary School in Jefferson City, MO. She was a devoted educator who worked hard to create a classroom where all children felt supported.

In 1997, Janie married David, the great love of her life. She enjoyed reading, decorating her home, baking rum cakes, drinking drive-thru fountain sodas, and propagating houseplants – visitors to her home often left with a plant in hand. She had a lifelong fondness for cats, going back to her first pet Biscuit, which was the only animal ever allowed in her childhood home. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lt. Donald G. Droz.

She is survived by: her husband, David; brother, Paul W. Droz and his wife Peggy Droz of Rich Hill, MO; sister-in-law, Judith Droz Keyes of Santa Monica, CA; son, Vince Palermo and his wife Tricia Palermo and daughter, Mila Palermo of Joplin, MO; daughter, Marti Palermo and her husband Jarrod Routh of Chicago, IL; and son, Andrew Palermo and his wife Milena Pastreich and son, Sasha Palermo of Los Angeles, CA.

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association by mailing all donations to P.O. Box 95, Jefferson City, Mo. 65102. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.

Planned Power Outage in the city of Peculiar

Evergy has informed the City of Peculiar of a city-wide power outage tonight, Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 9:00 pm for approximately 30 minutes and again tomorrow, Friday, December 2, 2022 at 9:00 pm for approximately 30 minutes. Evergy will be performing maintenance to the Peculiar substation.

Obituary - Robert E. Sell

Robert E. "Bob" Sell, 74, of Calhoun, Missouri passed away Sunday evening, November 27, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He was born February 14, 1948 in Clinton, MO, the son of Cletis Orval Sell and Effie Pearl (Combs) Sell.

He married Brenda Gail Gardner in Clinton, MO on March 24, 1967, celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary this year. She survives of the home.

Bob was employed with Clearfield Cheese for many years. He then became ranch manager for Brush Creek Ranch for 48 years, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed working the cattle and horses, running the equipment, and meeting all the new faces that visited the ranch. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family. He would take the kids and grandkids hunting and fishing every chance he could, teaching and sharing his knowledge.

In addition to his wife Brenda, surviving are sisters, Barbara Spencer, Dorothy Warren, Sharon Cooper, Sondra Raper (Nick), Mary Houk (Ralph), and Judy Williams (Don); brothers, Gary Sell (Carol), and Eddie Sell (Ruth); sons, Cletis Dwayne Sell and Travis Sell; daughter, Sheri Sell; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletis and Pearl Sell; brother, Dwight Sell; brothers-in-law, Leland Spencer, Roy Warren and Butch Cooper; a nephew, David Spencer; other extended family, Jim Herd and Clint Herd.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, December 2, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Sharing of memories will take place at 6:00 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Tebo Cemetery, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
