Obituary - Wayne Eugene Mowery

Wayne Eugene Mowery, age 69, of La Cygne, Kansas passed away at his home on Thursday, December 29, 2022. 

Wayne was born the son of William Joseph and Phyllis Jean (Reichard) Mowery on October 9, 1953 at Greenville, Pennsylvania. He was an over the road truck driver for North American Van Lines for several years.

He married Denise Bussell on August 11, 2012 in La Cygne, Kansas. Wayne enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, camping and drinking Budweiser, he also loved his family and grandchildren immensely. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dennis, Rodney and William Terry"Bosco" Mowery.

He is survived by his wife, Denise, three sons, Zach Mowery and his children, Zacheriah and Shaya, Jason Mowery and his children, Jewel, Jacob and Callen, Nick Bochy and his son Nick Jr., a daughter, Brooke Mowery and her son, Darren, one brother, Ralph Mowery, two sisters, Tina Patarini and Cheryl Dean and numerous great grandchildren.

One of two jail escapees from Cass County captured

FBI Kansas City Special Agent in Charge Charles Dayoub announced the arrest of Trevor Scott Sparks today.

At approximately 11:15 a.m. on Dec. 30, Sparks was taken into custody without incident at the 400 block of Olive St. in Kansas City. Sparks, 33, was charged in a criminal complaint with escape from confinement on Dec. 7th

Mr. Sparks was convicted on Nov. 7 by a federal trial jury, of leading a criminal conspiracy linked to two murders and multiple violent assaults, and which distributed at least a kilogram of methamphetamine every day for nearly a year in the Kansas City, Springfield, St. Joseph, and St. Louis, Missouri, areas, as well as illegally possessing firearms.

He was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, one count of participating in a money-laundering conspiracy, one count of possessing firearms in relation to a drug-trafficking crime, and one count of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Sparks was awaiting sentencing when he escaped.

Sparks was remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals. This matter was being investigated by FBI Kansas City, Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, the U.S. Marshals, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the ATF, the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force and the Kansas City Criminal Enterprise Task Force.



Obituary - Arthur Ray Wisdom



Arthur Ray Wisdom, age 75, Worland, Missouri passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022. He was born on December 9, 1947 in Worland, Missouri the son of Harry Otis and Olinea (Chamberlain) Wisdom.

He worked at various jobs, the most recent before retirement was Wade Quarry. He was a gentleman who seemed to be working all the time, either for himself or helping others. He helped his family put up hay, and mowed all the neighbor's yards in Worland. He did enjoy taking time to go fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Marion, Shumway, Ricky and Charley Wisdom, and two sisters, Lillie Hill and Nancy Schmidt. Arthur is survived by two brothers, Homer Wisdom and Harry Wisdom, three sisters, Ida Kaufman, Susan Parker, Edith Kirby, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday January 6, 2023 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in the Green Valley Cemetery.

Obituary - Phyllis Grace Gammon

Phyllis Grace Gammon age 90 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Thursday, December 12, 1932 at her home in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Structure fire east of Passaic

The Butler Fire Department along with mutual aide of the Adrian Fire Department and Central Cass Fire Department is on scene of a structure fire at 4536 NE State Route D Highway east of Passaic at this time.

The fire is said to be caused by a space heater that caught a bedroom on fire. Everyone is out of the home safe.

Obituary - Dennis Wayne Jett

Dennis Wayne Jett, 74, Sheldon, MO passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at his home surrounded by his wife and children. Dennis was born July 14, 1948 in Sedalia, MO to Roy R. and Mildred L. (Klein) Jett. He was married to Carla Slates on January 14, 1977 and she survives of the home.

Dennis was raised in Sedalia and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1966. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1971. Following his years in the service he began working at 3M Nevada retiring in August of 2010 after 38 years of employment.

In addition to his wife Carla, he is survived by one son, Sean (Daneta) Jett, Nevada, MO; two daughters, Mandee (Rick) Menego, Lexington, MO, and Lena Kleeman, Sheldon, MO; grandchildren, CPL Trenten Menego, United States Marine Corps, currently serving overseas, Brenden Menego, Leawood, KS, Kaylen Menego, Lexington, MO, Myah Jett, Nevada, MO, Ella, Emma, and Adi Kleeman, Sheldon, MO; brother, Pearly Jett, Sedalia, MO; sister, Carolyn (Michael) Beck, Jefferson City, MO; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Glenna Reaves, Sheldon, MO, sister-in-law, Cindy (Jim) Burns, Nevada, MO, and his “adopted” sisters, Jan Doe, Woodbury, MN, and Eloise Dwyer, Mountain Home, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred (Klein) Jett; brothers, Donnie and Kenneth; three sisters-in-law, Pat, Charlene, and Nancy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Wilma Lathrop; and brother-in-law, Roy Slates.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ted Lessman and Steve Hulsey for everything they have done.

A private family burial will be scheduled at a later date in Sheldon Cemetery. No services are planned at this time.
