Obituary - Sandra Susan Bradley

Sandra Susan Bradley, age 73, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at her home in Deepwater, Missouri. 

A graveside inurnment will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Maplewood Cemetery in Brownington, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to C.A.R.E. and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Sandra Susan Bradley was born on June 3, 1949 in Clinton, Missouri to Theodore and Dorothy Criss.

Sandra worked in the molding department at Rival Manufacture and later worked for Elite Laundry until her retirement. Sandra loved to watch Soap Operas with General Hospital being her favorite. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, and her son John Hodge.

Survivors include her husband Joe Bradley of the home, and two grandchildren, John “JJ” W. Hodge and Josh Hodge and a host of family and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

MSHP Reports 2 Traffic Fatalities, 0 Drownings, and 0 Boating Fatalities Over New Year’s Holiday Weekend

Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, provides the following preliminary statistics related to the New Year’s holiday weekend:

2 people died and 75 were injured in 243 traffic crashes during the 2023 New Year’s holiday counting period, which began at 6 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2023. There were 0 boating crashes and 0 drownings over the 2023 New Year’s holiday counting period.

2023 New Year’s Holiday Traffic Statistics
Troopers investigated the following:

Traffic Crashes — 243
Traffic Crash Injuries — 75
Traffic Crash Fatalities — 1
DWI — 104

[Note: During the 2022 New Year’s holiday counting period, one person was killed and 331 injured in 1,045 traffic crashes statewide. During last year’s New Year’s holiday, troopers worked 321 of those crashes which included 98 injuries and no fatalities. Troopers arrested 96 people for driving while intoxicated last year.]

Both fatal traffic crashes occurred in the Troop E, Poplar Bluff, MO, area. There were no traffic fatalities on Friday December 30, 2022.

One fatality occurred on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Roger Vinson, 63, of Piggott, AR, died when the vehicle he was driving crashed at the intersection of Route C and State Highway 25, in Stoddard County. Vinson was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham. The crash is being investigated by the Advance Police Department.

One fatality occurred on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Roger G. Morrow, 55, of Benton, MO, died when the vehicle he was driving travelled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. The crash occurred in Scott County on Missouri Highway 77 near Scott County Road 352. Morrow was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner Scott Branam. Morrow was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

There were no traffic fatalities on Monday, January 2, 2023.

The fatality statistics in this news release could change if late deaths occur, or if other departments report fatal traffic crashes after this news release is sent to the media.

Obituary - Sandra Kay McGan Sloan

It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Kay McGan Sloan announces her passing. Sandy, 55, of Raymore, Mo. passed on December 17, 2022 with her husband by her side after being surrounded byfriends and family in her final days.

Sandy was born on July 10th, 1967, in Kansas City, Mo. to Richard and Mary Patricia McGan. Sandy was the baby in a large Catholic family of 9 children. Sandy spent her years growing up surrounded by brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She graduated from Hickman Mills High School in 1985. She met her husband Michael Sloan in 1995. 

Mike knew he was going to marry Sandy on the first night that they met, and they tied the knot in 2000 in Kansas City, Mo. Sandy spent many years as a dental assistant before the birth of her children, McKenna Kay Sloan, 20 and Landan Lee Sloan, 15. Sandy dedicated many years to raising her children and being the personal shopper to many family members. Sandy lived with pancreatic cancer for the last 2 years and put up one heck of a fight. 

Sandy will be fondly remembered as the best gift giver, with the perfect smile, and award-winning deviled eggs. Her contagious laughter, witty humor, and love will be missed. Sandy was preceded in death by her brothers Patrick, Michael, Donald and her parents Richard and Pat. Sandy is survived by her husband, Michael Sloan; their two kids, McKenna and Landan; their family dog, Truman; siblings, Gail Oaks, Diana (Steve) Sproul, Phillip McGan, Ronald McGan, Jeffrey (Linda) McGan, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the team at KU Hospital as well as KC Hospice House for taking such great care of Sandy. There will be a visitation starting at noon, followed by the Celebration of Life at 1:30p. All are encouraged to dress in colorful, casual attire to look as bright as Sandy shined.

Obituary - Elizabeth "Beth" Wilson

Elizabeth "Beth" Wilson, 62, of Clinton, Missouri, passed away in her home in the early morning hours of December 31, 2022, surrounded by her family after a battle with an aggressive cancer. Her wishes were to be cremated. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am at the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton on Friday, January 6, 2023 with visitation from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made out to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation- Cancer Center or to Truman Lake Cancer Relief Fund and left in care of the funeral home.

Elizabeth Ann (Martin) Wilson was born on May 31, 1960 in Clinton, Missouri to Jonny and Carolyn (Lynch) Martin. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1978 and would later find fulfillment in the legal field. In 2021, she retired from the Henry County Prosecuting Attorney's office after more than 24 years of service.

Beth was a caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening, and farming. Studying local history, researching family background, and tending to her cows were some of Beth's favorite activities. She especially loved talking about cows with other local farmers and teaching her grandchildren about work on the family farm. 

Beth was always looking to learn more and gain knowledge from others for the various endeavors she was involved in. Some of Beth's favorite memories were of her travels with her mom, sister, and her friends; she especially loved visiting Florida and Colorado and had wished to do more traveling. But above all, she was fondest of her grandkids and their accomplishments and adventures.

Beth is preceded in death by her father, Jonny Martin; aunt, Darlene Austin; and nephew, Christopher Martin. Survivors include her daughter Trista Himes and husband Josh (Clinton, MO); grandchildren Andrew, Kason, Jocelyn, and Emersyn Himes (Clinton, MO); her mother and stepfather Carolyn (Lynch) and Jack Page (Clinton, MO); sister Sherri Long (Clinton, MO); brother David Martin (Clinton, MO); aunt Jackie Meatty (Port Charlotte, FL); uncle Ted Austin (Chilhowee, MO); cousins Vicki Simpson (Springfield, MO) and Steven Austin (Chilhowee, MO); and several nieces.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant - Mills Funeral, Clinton, Missouri.

Adrian woman injured after being struck by debris on the roadway

On Monday January 2nd around 10:49 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by debris in the roadway on northbound I-49 around mile marker 152.6 in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when 50 year old Jamie Bise of Adrian was outside of her vehicle when an unknown vehicle drove by and struck a piece of debris, which then struck Bise.

Jamie Bise was taken by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment of moderate injuries.
