Structure fire last night in Nevada

Last night around 8:22 pm the Nevada Fore Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 1200 Block of E Douglas. 

While in route to the scene the Nevada Police arrived on scene and confirmed a working house fire. 

The firemen knocked the fire down and had it under control in roughly 15 minutes. 

Extensive overhaul was done to ensure all hot spots were out. 4 off duty personnel also responded back for the fire.

Way to go Maggie!

BIG NEWS!!! The Adrian FFA Chapter has a State Champ! Today senior Adrian FFA President Maggie Stark had the opportunity to compete in the Cattlemen’s Fall Speaking Contest at the Cattlemen’s State Convention. Maggie had to qualify by winning Area and District contest last fall.

Today she competed against the other district winners from across the state and won. 

She then had the opportunity this evening to present her speech at the Cattlemen’s Dinner. Congratulations Maggie!

Obituary - George A. Smith

George A. Smith age 78 of Garden City, Missouri departed this life Friday, January 6,2023 at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital.

Obituary - Lea Ann (Kline) Cleaver

Lea Ann Cleaver, 69, of Pleasanton, KS passed away at her home on January 3, 2023.

She was born February 5, 1953 to her parents James Frank Kline and Gracia Lea (Naumann) Kline, living on an Ottawa County farm outside of Delphos, KS until the family moved to Delphos after the death of her father in 1953.

Having moved to Minneapolis, KS in 1964, she graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1971. Lea Ann married Larry Cleaver in Solomon, KS June 2, 1979. Lea Ann, a KU Jayhawk fan, was a sweet, loving person, always ready for a laugh, adoring her granddaughters, and enjoying her Basenji dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Larry of the home, son Jeremy Paul Cleaver, Fort Scott, KS, granddaughters Jarin Storm and Jadely Rogue, and brother Frank Kline (Sue) Lecompton, KS.

Cremation is planned and burial will be at Delphos, KS cemetery. A memorial service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SRL, a dog rescue charity, in her hometown of Minneapolis, KS.

Obituary - Mary Ann Wolfe

Mary Ann Wolfe age 31 of Creighton, Missouri departed this life Monday, January 2, 2023 at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dickey Funeral Home and sent in care of the Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.

A Celebration Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes is pending.

Bears do well at the 31st Annual Butler Wrestling Invitational today

The Butler Varsity Wrestling Team competed in the 31st Annual Butler Wrestling Invitational today. Way to compete hard boys!

Brendin Patrick: 1st.
Bryson Kash: 0-2.
Kole Tarvin: 0-2.
Issac Rodriguez: 2nd.

This Monday January 9th we have a quad meet at home. This will be Senior night for Makayla Mallatt, Josie Johnston, and Brendin Patrick.

This will be our final home meet of the season. Lets pack the rafters to show these young men and women how much we appreciate them.
Matches start at 5PM.

Butler Girls wrestle well at home tournament

The Butler Varsity Girls Wresting Team competed in the 2nd Annual Butler Girls Invitational last night. We had 28 schools from Missouri and Kansas.

Results:
Makayla Mallatt. 1st.
Airyanna Nuzum: 4th.
Taylor Hudson: 3rd.
Josie Johnston: 4th.

Our girls had some close matches that could have went either way. I am super proud of them all. We went out and were physical and won some matches. Great job ladies!

The Butler Boys Invitational Wrestling Tournament is today! Be sure to come out and support the Bears! 



Butler man arrested in Johnson County

On January 5th around 9:34 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Johnson County arrested 68 year old Terry D. Green of Butler, Missouri after a traffic stop.

Mr. Green was arrested for 1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Lane Violation 3.) Speeding 4. No Seatbelt. 

Terry D. Green was booked into the Warrensburg Police Department and he was later cited and released.
