In Loving Memory of Our Beautiful Daughter
Bridgette Chantel Castaneda, of Belton, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, suddenly and tragically young on 01/23/2023 at Bates Memorial Hospital. Bridgette was only 29 years old. Our family is devastated and shocked by this loss. Bridgette was born on 06/07/1993 in Kansas City, MO at Menorah Medical Center to parents Joseph and Tosha Castaneda.
Bridgette was a cheerleader and played tennis for the Belton High School; after moving, she graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School. Bridgette worked as a retail clerk and a Pre-K teacher, which was her favorite position. She enjoyed the variety of life and being the most caring, loving mother to her two daughters Macinzie Lue, 8 years old, and Macinlee Rose, 3 years old.
Bridgette loved and enjoyed the variety of life with her friends. She loved listening to music, fishing, muddin’, four wheelers, and most of all a Chevy Truck. Bridgette never turned down a chance to ride the RZR with her dad and loved to spend time with her mom shopping and thrifting. She was always taking selfies with her girls as they enjoyed life, fun and happiness together. Bridgette looked out for BaileyJo as a sister and a best friend. Bridgette was a bubbly and goofy girl and the life of the party.
Bridgette is survived by her parents Joseph and Tosha Castaneda of Belton, MO; K9 Sister BaileyJo Castaneda of Belton, MO; Brother Christopher Brillhart (wife Megan) of Belton, MO; Daughters Macinzie and Macinlee Marlow of Belton, MO; her daughters’ father Erin Marlow of Belton, MO; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are being held for Bridgette on February 01, 2023, at LifeQuest Church, 1400 N Scott Ave, Belton, M0 64012. Visitation will be at 10:00am with the services to follow.
Joseph, Tosha, and Bridgette’s daughters would like to thank Pastor Chris Pinion of LifeQuest Church and all their staff for contributing to the services. Obituary - Gavonn Michaela Burk
Gavonn Michaela Annette Elise Burk, age 24, resident of Fort Scott, KS, died Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. She was born on January 5, 1999, in Olathe, KS, the daughter of Jeff Burk and Mary McCully. She grew up in Iola, KS. Gavonn was a free spirit who stood for what she believed in.
She enjoyed attending live concerts and spending time with family and friends. She adored her two daughters who meant everything to her.
Survivors include her daughters, Scarlett Burk and Gracelynn Jones; her mother, Mary Watson (Will), Fort Scott, KS; her father, Jeff Burk, Fort Scott, KS; 7 brothers, Tripp Chapman, Prestonn Burk, Daylonn Burk, Londonn Burk, Brittonn Burk, Ethan Watson, and Tylor Watson; 3 sisters, Railie Zimmerman, Peytonn Burk, and Kindra Watson; grandparents Irene and Dan Rhodes, Gary Hartman, and Theresa Burk and Marvin Hartman; great grandparents Loren and Ivana Higginbotham; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Mike Burk and stepfather Billy Chapman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 11th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Holmes Cemetery, Prescott, KS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.

Butler man arrested on several warrants
On February 7th the Butler Police Department arrested 37 year old David R. Piland of Butler, Missouri.
Mr. Piland was arrested for failure to appear in court on the following Butler Police Department Warrants:
1.) Possession of Marijuana
2.) Driving While Revoked/ Suspended (X3)
3.) Operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility (X2)

Wanted out of Benton County
Nicholas Scott Littlejohn, 30 of Edwards MO is wanted for questioning in relation to a series of thefts and burglaries, as well as several stolen vehicles in Benton and surrounding counties. We have reason to believe he and a couple of others are working together.
My thanks to Warsaw P.D, the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and Sedalia P.D, for their assistance and the use of their drone and to the MSHP for their quick response. Littlejohn remains on the run and will be looking to steal another vehicle to flee the area.
Please make sure that your vehicles, garages, and homes are locked. Littlejohn should be considered armed and dangerous, if you see Littlejohn, or know of his whereabouts, please contact the Benton County Central Dispatch at 660-438-9555, law enforcement would love to visit with him.
Littlejohn has been the subject of several pursuits all over Benton County. On 2/6/2023 Littlejohn fired a weapon at the pursing deputy which ended near Poorboy and Hannah Avenue in Warsaw.
Littlejohn fled on foot, law enforcement officers from Benton and Pettis County as well as tracking dogs and a drone were used in the search. The rough terrain and creek bottom did not aid us in the track. Littlejohn is no longer believed to be in the search area.

Obituary - Doris Jean May
Doris Jean May, 84, formerly of Nevada, MO passed away on Tuesday, February 07, 2023 at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, AR. Doris was born March 26, 1938 in Sheldon, MO to Harold M. and Cora E. (Hieronymus) Greer. She was united in marriage to Lloyd May on June 5, 1955 in Nevada, MO and he survives of the home.
Doris was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. She lived most of her adult life in Nevada.

She and Lloyd owned and operated May’s Garden Center for many years, which later became May’s Flower and Gifts where Doris worked until retirement. Doris was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Nevada. For the past four years she and Lloyd have resided in Bella Vista, AR.
In addition to her husband, Lloyd, she is survived by one daughter, Deanne Hoagland (Gregg), Bella Vista, AR; two grandchildren, Kiley Robinette (Brian), Bella Vista, AR, and Ryan Hoagland (Nikki), Parkville, MO; two great-granddaughter’s, Shay, and Lennox; and one great-grandson, Nolan; a sister, Pat Moore, El Dorado Springs, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 in Moore Cemetery in Nevada with Pastor Dennis Engelbrecht officiating. Friends may call now and until noon on Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Richard Loren Grishow passed away peacefully on February 5, 2023, in the presence of his Lord and Savior and surrounded by his family at Ellet Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 3, 1962 to Loen Wayne and Melissa Jane (Hilsenbeck) Grishow in St. Joseph, Missouri. He grew up in Rea, Missouri. On February 26, 1983 he was united in marriage to Cathy Cunningham.
In 1992 they moved their family to the family home in rural Deepwater, Missouri. Richard worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation for over 32 years.
After his retirement he worked as a farmhand for Derek Engeman, which he took great pleasure in. Richard enjoyed spending his time running a bulldozer, fishing, tending to his garden, and being with his children and grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Loren Grishow.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Grishow; his mother, Melissa Grishow; a sister, Shirly (Bob) Dreher; his children: Matt (Hannah) Grishow, David (Kymberly) Grishow, Isaiah Grishow, Richard (Jennifer)Grishow, Michelle (Ethan) Siegismund, and Brian (Angy) Grishow; 19 grandchildren; a lifelong friend and surrogate father John Flora; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
