Wild police chase Thursday evening in Kansas and Missouri

Tonight at 8:45 PM the Miami County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a pursuit entering the county on Jingo Rd by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. Miami County Deputies responded to the area to assist and began the Pursuit protocol, engaging in the pursuit.

During the pursuit Miami County Deputies deployed a tire deflation device, commonly known as spike strips. The deployment was successful on both driver side tires, which substantially slowed the speeds of the fleeing vehicle.

At one point the pursuit entered Drexel, Missouri then came back into Miami County. In the area of 351st Street and 69 Highway the Kansas Highway Patrol utilized a tactical vehicle intervention maneuver, commonly known as the PIT maneuver, safely disabling the vehicle in the ditch.

A 34 year old adult male driver was taken into custody by the Linn Valley Police Department on their charges. Additional charges from Miami County will be submitted.

We are thankful of the safe and successful deployment of the many trained techniques that brought this pursuit to a peaceful resolution with no one injured.

Thank you to the Linn Valley Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, Bates County, MO Sheriff’s Office and the Cass County, MO Sheriff’s Office for the assistance.
