Obituary - Bobby "Bob" L. Davis

Bobby "Bob" L. Davis age 86, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. 

Funeral services for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. 

Burial to follow in the Appleton City Cemetery in Appleton City, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Hospital and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Bob Lewis Davis was born on August 17, 1936 in Deepwater, Missouri to Chester and Irene Davis.

Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1965. He was in the 82nd Airborne Division, the 66th Military Police Company and was honorably discharged from Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas. Bob married Judith Ann Jones on November 1, 1959, celebrating their 63rd anniversary this last November.

Bob had a love for motorcycles, he enjoyed to travel, old westerns, classic cars and NASCAR. Bob was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, and Shriners for over 50 years. He worked in his barber shop went to Chiropractic college, and owned his excavation business running heavy machinery.

He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Irene Davis. Survivors include his wife Judith Davis, 4 cousins, nieces, nephews, in laws and many friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Lamar man pleads guilty to three counts of felony sodomy

Daniel Eugene Mankey of Lamar, Missouri entered a guilty plea on March 22, 2023, in the Circuit Court of Barton County, Missouri.

Mr. Mankey, 62 years of age, pleaded guilty to three separate counts of the felony of sodomy in the first degree for events that occurred between November 1, 2020, and June 24, 2021.

Barton County Sheriff’s Office investigated a complaint that Mankey was inappropriately touching a female child who was less than 12 years old. The investigation revealed that the crimes occurred at a residence in rural Barton County.

Also on March 22, 2023, Judge David Munton sentenced Mankey on all 3 counts to life imprisonment without eligibility for probation or parole until he has served not less than thirty years of the sentence, or when the defendant reaches age 75, and has served at least 15 years.

Mankey is being held in a county jail awaiting transportation to the Department of Corrections.

Butler man arrested on warrants in Bates County

On March 22nd around 2:00 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 19 year old Kac K. Cooper of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Cooper was arrested on the following charges 1.) Felony Bates County Sheriff's Office Warrant 2.) Tampering with a motor vehicle 3.) Speeding 4.) Driving while suspended.

Kac K. Cooper was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently listed as bondable.

Bobby “Bob” Lee Higgins, age 82 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, March 20, 2023 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 16, 1940 to Benjamin Leo and Mae Bernice Shoemaker Higgins in Appleton City, Missouri.

Bob, one of two boys, grew up in Rockville and Appleton City, Missouri, graduating from Appleton City High School in 1958. He started his lifelong 45 year truck driving career at age 17 delivering grain for Colonel Heiman in Rockville. He has been driving ever since including Tiona Trucking for many years and retiring from Heartland Express out of North Liberty, Iowa. In June of 1962, he married Alice Mae Mills and to this union, a son and daughter were born. Bob was a former Mason and Shriner.

Bob had a quick wit, never met a stranger and made everything funny. Pastimes included watching westerns, playing cards, camping and boating every weekend at Stockton Lake, and reading most anything especially newspapers and Louis L’Amour books. He loved music–played trumpet in the high school band and bass guitar in a blue grass band named after the musicians, “Jim Bob Jim Bob Jim.” Bob certainly enjoyed his coffee and managed to drink 1 - 2 gallons of it every day. He was true and dedicated to his marriage vows til “death do us part.”

Bob is survived by a son, Chris Higgins and girlfriend Debbie Slattery of Smithville, Missouri; a daughter, Kari Higgins of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; three grandchildren, Alec Higgins, Ainsley Higgins, and Ethan Catron; and a brother, Jim Higgins and wife Cindy of St. Charles, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Mae Higgins.

Obituary - Patricia Sue Ramsell

Patricia Sue Ramsell, age 79, of Independence, MO and formerly from Schell City, MO passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Blue Springs, MO.

Pat was born June 16, 1943 in Buckner, MO to Dean Howard and Nadine Violet (Lane) Masters. On March 1, 1968 she married William “Bill” Roger Ramsell in Miami, OK and together they raised three children. Bill preceded her in death in 2008.

Pat is survived by one daughter, Dena Stoneking and her husband Gary, of Buckner, MO; two sons, Garry Ramsell and his wife Tammie of Paola, KS and Billy Ramsell of Schell City, MO; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deanna Marlow, Blue Springs, MO and Connie Layton and her husband Stan, Schell City, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday March 23, 2023 at Green Lawn Cemetery, Schell City, MO.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm, Thursday at Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, MO.

Evelyn Claudine Stanfill, age 81 of Amoret, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at her home near Amoret. She was born June 14, 1941 to Everett Claude and Martha Mildred Hughes Jackson in Amsterdam, Missouri.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl Stanfill of Amoret, Missouri; four children, Deborah Jean Lacy and husband Rick of Adrian, Missouri, Evelyn Kathleen Nicholson of Jamestown, North Dakota, Roger Walton Stanfill and wife Melissa and Carla Elaine Enos and husband George all of Amoret, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Vanessa Lacy, Tom Lacy and wife Alba, Ashley Stangel and husband Roy, Evan McCaine and wife Akiesha, Josh Stanfill and wife Amanda, Connela Kimzey and husband Dakota, Steven Nicholson, Anne Silvey and husband Blake and Deanna Nicholson; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Pearl Kohler and husband Dean of Paola, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett Jackson and Mildred Stilwell and stepfather William Stilwell; a baby brother, Darrell Jackson; and a great-grandson, Wyatt McCaine.

Obituary - Jeffrey Wayne Gill

Jeffrey Wayne Gill, 74, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Jeff was born December 28, 1948 in Santa Monica, CA.

Jeff was raised in the Santa Monica, CA area. After joining the United States Navy at the age of 17, Jeff served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Vietnam for 1 year and 3 months. Following his service time he returned home and worked as a trucker for 30 years. He came to Nevada in 2012 where he has continued to reside.

Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer Gill, Arkansas, Crystal Alvares (Lucio), Nevada, MO, and Courtney Gill, Little Rock, AR; eight grandchildren, including Austin, Diego, and Khris. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating.
