Police Pursuit ends on I-49 in Cass County

On 4/10/2023 at approximately 1400 hours a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle on Northbound I-49 north of Passaic at approximately 1400 hrs.

The vehicle stop was for displaying expired tags and illegal window tint. The vehicle initially pulled to the side of the road. Upon approach by the deputies the vehicle fled northbound.

The pursuit continued on I-49 through Harrisonville. Just north of Harrisonville the Cass County Sheriff's Office deployed spike strips. The driver of the vehicle attempted to avoid the spike strips and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch between the interstate and the outer road.

The driver was taken into custody without any further incident. A search of the vehicle produced prescription medication and a handgun. The driver was transported to the Bates County Sheriff's Office where he will be held until charges are filed by the Bates County Prosecutor's Office.

We would like to thank the Adrian Police Department and Cass County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this pursuit.
