Stolen vehicle in Bates County

On 4/12/2023 at approximately 12pm Bates County Sherriff's Deputies took a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was last seen last night at the residence. The vehicle was stolen from the area NW county road 14001.
 
The vehicle is described as a 1998 Maroon Chevrolet Silverado. Has a tag number of 6FF-D32. The truck is a 2 door, 4wd with a shortbed. The truck also has a fuel tank in the bed.

Arkansas man arrested in Harrisonville

PRESS RELEASE - (Harrisonville, MO) - The Harrisonville Police Department has arrested Alex Woy, 27, of Fort Smith, AR, following a juvenile female victim’s report of inappropriate touching in an alley behind a local business.
 
On 4/10/23, at approximately 1730 hours, a male subject, later identified as Woy, approached a juvenile female on a sidewalk near the intersection of Independence and Mechanic Streets. 

Woy convinced the juvenile to walk behind a nearby business with him, where he proceeded to inappropriately touch her. The juvenile female was able to run away from Woy. Woy was located a short distance away and arrested.
 
On 4/11/23, Woy was charged by the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office with Child Molestation in the 4th degree, a felony. A $50,000 cash only bond was set for Woy.
 
At this time, Harrisonville Police Department believes this was an isolated incident, as Woy does not live in this area, and this is the only report we have received.

The department is unable to answer questions about the case, as it involves a juvenile and is still an open investigation.

Overbay breaks Harrisonville career soccer goal record

We would like to congratulate Harrisonville Wildcat Senior Abby Overbay who broke the school career goal record at tonight’s game. The old record was 80 & Abby now has 82! 

Lots of season remaining - we can’t wait to see what the new record will be! WTG Abby!

Way to go Mikalah Scott

Mikalah Scott competed and represented Clinton High School in the National Optimist Annual Oratorical on Sunday, April 2nd. This competition involves writing a speech based on a prompt provided from the Optimist Club. 

This year's prompt was "Discovering The Optimism Within Me." In her speech, Mikalah spoke about the daily parts of our lives that make discovering optimism difficult and how incorporating optimism into these daily stressors makes day-to-day life easier. Mikalah also spoke about how she personally found optimism in her life.

Mikalah competed and won 1st place at the regional level oratorical contest in Osceola and was awarded a $500 scholarship, as well as the opportunity to compete at the district level on May 20th. Mikalah will have the opportunity to earn higher scholarships and advance further into the competition in the coming months.
Congrats Mikalah!

Trumbore named to all state basketball team

We would like to congratulate Butler Junior Carter Trumbore for being named to the All State Basketball Team.

The All-State basketball teams is voted on by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.

Carter is the son of Troy and Leigh Trumbore.



Obituary - Catherine Ruby Knoblauch

Catherine Ruby Knoblauch, age 86, of East Lynne, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Spring River Cemetery in Verona, Missouri.

Catherine was born in Winn, Michigan on February 9, 1937 to Ira Augustus Sutton and Mabel Marie (Metcalf). Catherine was joined in marriage with her late husband, Harry on May 31, 1952. In life, Catherine was a homemaker, member of the Heartland Tabernacle Baptist Church of Belton, Missouri, loved quilting, and loved gardening.

Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry Knoblauch; parents, Ira and Mabel Sutton; two sons, Harry S. Knoblauch and Richard L. Knoblauch; and three siblings, Marilyn F. Peterson, Lucia L. Kisling, and Michael G. Sutton.

She is survived by her children, Jeffery M. Knoblauch (Jeannie), John A. Knoblauch, James E. Knoblauch, Joel R. Knoblauch, Marilyn H. Russell, and Sue L. Knoblauch; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
