Strong storms possible Tuesday night

Multiple rounds of rain showers and thunderstorms forecast through Thursday morning. Round 1 will be late tonight into early Wednesday morning, mainly NE Kansas to Northern Missouri.

A few severe storms with hail and gusty winds possible. Round 2 will be late Wednesday overnight into Thursday. Hail and damaging winds possible.

Heavy rain will also be a concern by Thursday morning, leading to potential flooding issues.


Obituary - Wayne Thomas Blunt

Wayne Thomas Blunt, age 64, of Nevada, MO, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Medicalodge in Nevada.

Wayne was born February 10, 1959, in Modesto, CA to John Wayne and Orva Lynne (Bayne) Blunt. After high school, he married Rebecca Sue Compton and together they raised three children. 

He worked at a sawmill in Deerfield, MO, Beisley’s Gas Station, worked for Dick Meyers and drove a truck for David Bough. He was a member of JC’s Black Powder and enjoyed stock car racing, fishing and spending time with his family.

Wayne is survived by one daughter, Marlena McElreath, Nevada, MO; one sister, Paula Bechtle, Nevada, MO; two brothers, Frankie Blunt and Richard Blunt, both of California; grandchildren, Kendra (Jake) Fisher, Megan Friend, Justice Graham, Daemein Graham, and Liberty Graham; one great grandchild LucyMae Jeffery and another one on the way; a nephew Andrew Bechtle and a niece Heather Lynne Bechtle.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Rebecca Blunt, two children, Regina Blunt and Thomas Blunt; one brother, Bobby Blunt; and one sister Frances Blunt.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at 5:00 pm, Friday, April 21, 2023, at Wayne’s Home.

Way to go Kylee!

The Finn Group Velocity Softball Player of the Week is Kylee Dubray. 

She had a 1.308 SLG with a double, triple, and inside the park HR to go along with 10 RBI. She also had 17 Ks in 8 innings in the circle. 

Kylee is the daughter of Kyle and Erin Dubray of Butler! Congrats Kylee!

Obituary - Charles Francis Hinton

Charles Francis Hinton, age 84, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at his home in Clinton, Missouri. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 21 at the Clinton Christian Church.

Burial to follow in Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to the Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor (C.A.R.E.) and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Obituary - David Joe McCubbin

David Joe McCubbin, 78, of Butler, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his home in Butler surrounded by his family. 

Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with the visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO.

David was born January 10, 1945 in Manhattan, Kansas, a son of Jay Wesley and Lilia Mae (Michaelis) McCubbin. He lived in the Harrisonville area most of his life, and had lived in Butler since 2020. David was united in marriage to Donna E. Kendall on October 11, 1964 in Kansas City, MO. He was a heavy equipment operator for Beyer Crushed Rock in Cleveland, MO, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #101 in Kansas City.

David was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Jimmy McCubbin, Donald McCubbin, and Jerry McCubbin; two sisters: Rohnda L. McCubbin and Dorothey McCubbin; half-brother, Perry L. McCubbin; half-sister, Frances Katherine; and a grandson, Zach McCubbin. He is survived by his wife, Donna McCubbin, Butler, MO; a daughter, Elizabeth (Steve) Cowger, Butler, MO; two sons: David Joseph (Megan) McCubbin, Schell City, MO; and William (Kimberly) McCubbin, Harrisonville, MO; nine brothers: John W. McCubbin, Harrisonville, MO; Roy E. (Cheri) McCubbin, Drexel, MO; Gary W. (Penny) McCubbin, Harrisonville, MO; Jay D. McCubbin, KS; Ronald E. (Peggy) McCubbin, Harrisonville, MO; Roger D. McCubbin, FL; Terry G. (Jennifer) McCubbin, Harrisonville, MO; Paul A. (Sabrina) McCubbin, Harrisonville, MO; Dwight D. Public service announcement from the Adrian Fire Department

The Adrian Fire Department will be conducting a training at the Adrian School this evening starting at approximately 6:30 PM. 

We will have multiple apparatus in the area and if you monitor our radio traffic, please understand that this will be part of our training.

Obituary - Robert Miller

Robert Miller 67, of Drexel, Missouri passed away April 15, 2023 in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family. 

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm Saturday, also at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Glenwild Cemetery, Cleveland, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke’s Heart Institute. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Robert George Miller was born February 28, 1956 in Washington D.C. to Kenneth and Florene Lewis Miller. He was united in marriage to Tina Hancock on September 18, 1981, and enjoyed 41and a half years of marriage. Bob served in the US Airforce for four years working as a mechanic. After being honorably discharged, he and his family settled in Drexel, Missouri where Bob worked as a business owner for many years.

When Bob wasn’t working, he could often be found in his yard planting, or at the local fishing hole. He also loved to travel, partake in the local cuisine, and singing.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Allen Miller, and granddaughter Alexis Miller. He is survived by his wife Tina Miller of the home, sons Daniel Miller Sr. and wife Amanda of Fort Madison, IA, and Shawn Miller and his children of Michigan, daughters, Jessica Patterson and husband Jeremiah of Adrian, MO., and Natasha Heck and husband Bob and their children of Michigan.

Bob also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister Kathy Huckaby and husband Carl of Warrensburg, MO., and his brother Vernon Owens and wife Jeanie of Olathe, KS.
