Obituary - Lawrence "Larry" Eugene Sieker

Lawrence "Larry" Sieker, 62, of Drexel, Missouri, passed away on November 22, 2022 at his farm home in Drexel. Graveside services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery on April 23, 2023 at 12:00 PM, located at 33221 Gregg Street, Creighton, MO. Visitation and Celebration of his life will follow the graveside services at 1:00 PM at the family home located at 9009 E 335th St, Drexel, MO 64742. Family and friends are invited.

Born on November 24, 1959 in Kansas City, MO, Larry was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City Metro area. Larry graduated from the University of Kansas in 1985 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Larry was a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri all of his working life.

Larry started his career working as an electronic design engineer for the Static-O-Ring company and worked designing electronic instruments. He went on to found his company to market electronic instrumentation for Industrial customers and then went on to work for several large instrument manufactures to market, sell and train customers in the use of their products. He was currently employed by Neo Monitros located in Norway as a world-wide sales manager.

Larry liked to attend the horse races in Hot Springs, AR, every year with his parents, Bill, Sr. and Louise. He also liked to play golf with his son, David, and his brother, Bill, Jr. He enjoyed "tinkering", "building projects", and "fixing stuff" on his beloved farm in Drexel.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kelly; his daughters: Sophia Sieker and Lauren (James) Sherman; his son, David Sieker; grandchildren: Maddey, Jacob, and Henry; his parents: William Sr. and Louise Sieker of Liberty, MO; his brother, William Dale (Alta) Sieker, Jr. of Blue Springs, MO; his sister, Linda (John) Schumacher of Rolla, MO; two nephews: Charles and Carl; and two nieces: Lauren and Kelly.

Power outage in rural Clinton

Osage Valley Electric Members around our Clinton office and south are experiencing an outage at this time.

Machinery in the area have broken 2 different pole tops.

Crews are working on restoring power as quickly and as safely as possible.

Obituary - William C. Shutt

William “Bill” C. Shutt, age 99, of Deepwater, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023.

Bill was born in Sherwin, Kansas on April 16, 1924 to Charlie Walker Shutt and Georgia (Phillips) Shutt. Bill is a combat veteran of the Korean War. He served honorably in the Army, achieving the rank of Corporal. 

For more than 25 years he was a meat cutter and in the meat cutters union. Bill loved his life of retirement that was filled with fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking and his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Georgia Shutt; wife, Betty Lou Shutt; son, Richard Shutt; daughter, Rebecca Herzer; and two son in laws, Mark Shriver and Ed Herzer.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Regina Shriver; daughter in law Carol Shutt; grandchildren, CJ Shutt, Darren Shutt (Brianna), Jackie Shutt, and Emily Weida (Dan); and one great grandchild, Caradyn Shutt.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, Missouri. A graveside service will be held following visitation at Belton Cemetery in Belton, Missouri.

Sad news from the Ray-Pec School District

We are saddened to share the news of a death in the Ray-Pec family. Tyler Aspey, a senior at Ray-Pec High School, passed away on Sunday, April 16. Tyler had attended Ray-Pec schools his entire school career, beginning with Raymore Elementary School.

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Tyler’s family and friends. A support team of counselors and personnel is available to assist and support students and faculty members as they grieve.

Smalley recognized for 25 years of service

 


During the regular Butler city council meeting last night, Terry Smalley was recognized for his 25 years of service to the city of Butler. Mayor protem Denny Rich made the presentation.

Severe storms possible this evening/overnight

Thunderstorms are expected this evening and overnight across northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. 

Some of those storms will be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds the most likely hazards. 

A tornado or two is possible in far northwestern Missouri and far northeastern Kansas.
