Homicide Investigation underway in Peculiar

On 04-21-2023 around 1 am, Peculiar Police were called to the 800 block of S. Peculiar Dr. for a domestic disturbance and shooting that had just occurred. 

Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police took one suspect into custody at the home.

The gunshot victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Names will be released if and when the suspect is charged. 

The incident is being investigated by the Peculiar Police Department and assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Runaway juveniles from St. Clair County

Sometime around midnight and 5 am two juveniles ran away from a residence in Osceola and could be heading to the area of Windsor or Warrensburg. 

One black male, 5'9'', 200 lbs, 14 years old, last known wearing unknown clothing. 

Second juvenile is a white male, 5'6", 100 lbs, 13 years old, last wearing unknown clothing. Juveniles are known to steal vehicles.

Low temperatures Sunday morning

The forecast low for Sunday at Kansas City is 31 degrees. This would be the 12th latest freeze on the 135-year period of record for Kansas City. The latest freeze was 5/6/1944. 

On average, the last freeze for KC occurs on 4/8 so this would be a couple weeks later than usual. Sensitive vegetation will need to be protected.


Bank robbery in Belton

On 4-20-2023 at 1:10PM, the Belton Police received a report of a bank robbery at 204 Main Street. A male party reportedly brandished a knife and demanded money from a teller. After receiving the money, the suspect left the scene on foot.

A Belton police officer was able to locate the suspect just blocks away and take him into custody without incident. The suspect's identity is not being released pending charges.

The FBI will be handling the investigation with the assistance of the Belton Missouri Police Department.
