The dinner tonight will be provided by the Bates County Cattlemen's Association! Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Appleton City R-2 School District is excited to announce our new elementary principal for the 2023-2024 school year. Amy Youngblood will be joining the Bulldog family next year. 

She has served many roles in education at both the classroom and state level. We are excited to have her on staff next year! Welcome!

Obituary - Deborah A. Richey

Deborah Ann Richey daughter of Lloyd and Virginia Coday was born on August 17, 1957 in Kansas City MO and gained her wings on April 26, 2023 at St Luke’s Hospital in Lee’s Summit MO at the age of 65 years old, surround by her family. Debbie lived in Garden City MO most of her life. She was one of 5 sibling and enjoyed her beloved dog Pete, walking and coloring.

Debbie was preceded in death by her husband Maurice (Pete) Richey and one grandson Coy Hughes Jr.

Debbie was survived by her parents Lloyd and Virginia Coday of Warsaw MO, daughter Melissia Adams-Coday (wife Pepper Adams-Coday) of Creighton MO; 2 sisters Cheryl King (partner Dan Wilson) of Warsaw Mo and Sandy Bell (husband David Bell) of Belton MO; 2 brothers James Coday of Greenwood MO and Doug Coday of Greenwood Mo; 2 granddaughters Michelle Hughes of Pleasant Hill MO and Madison Moore of Rolla MO, 2 grandson Michael Moore of Pleasant Hill, MO and Dylan Adams-Coday of Creighton MO, 4 great grandkids, Sophia Foss, Cash Hughes, Waylon Hughes and Braxton Mauser along with many loving other family members and friends.

To the very end Debbie enjoyed her family, friends and living life to the fullest her way!!

Visitation and Celebration of Life: To honor Debbie’s memory, we are holding a visitation and celebration of life on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Dickey’s Funeral Home 2401 E Mechanic Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with services immediately following. We invite anyone who knew her to come and remember her life.

Spreading of her Ashes: The world became brighter on August 17, 1957 the day Debbie was born. Debbie sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer. She will be sorely missed. There will be ceremony to spread Debbie ashes at Gilbert Cemetery in Holden MO immediately following services

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospital Cancer Center, Kansas City, Missouri and may be sent in care of Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Obituary - Pamela Ranay Harth

Pamela Ranay Harth, 72, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. Pam was born June 24, 1950 in Fort Scott, KS to William “Joe” and Edythe “Sue” E. (McCulley) Mantooth. She married Dean Harth on May 24, 1968 in Fort Scott and he preceded her in death in 2009.

Pam was raised in Fort Scott and graduated from Fort Scott High School Class of 1968. For many years she worked at Emery’s Truck Stop in Deerfield, then worked for the Nevada R-5 School District Bus Barn driving a school bus for 10 years. Pam also worked at the Nevada Senior Center for several years, as well as caring for many of her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Cindy Brown, Nevada, Michael Harth (Kathleen Feller), Nevada, and Angela Proctor (Raymond), Nevada; seven grandchildren; four great granddaughters; her mother, Sue, Gas, KS; two brothers, Del Mantooth (Jodie), Fulton, KS, and Alan Mantooth (Amie), El Dorado, KS; one sister, Pattie Luck (Paul), Leon, KS; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her husband, Dean, she was preceded in death by her father, a daughter, Lisa Thurman, and a granddaughter, Tonya Kerr.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. A Private Committal service will be held in Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Family c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
