Obituary - David Hough

David Ray Hough, 74, El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, following a lengthy illness. David was born April 5, 1949, in Butler, MO to Lewis “Sam” and Thelma (Garrison) Hough. On January 27, 1984, he was married to Cynthia Baker in Rockville, MO.

David grew up in Rockville and was a graduate of Appleton City High School. He drove a truck for many years and later bought and sold cattle. He loved being on the farm and taking care of his cattle, enjoyed bowling league in Nevada, coon hunting, and riding horses. Most of all he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife, Cindy, of the home; his children, Christina Bryant (Larry), El Dorado Spring, MO, Tina Gilkey (Yale), Nevada, MO, Melanie Morris, Independence, MO, and Kathy Hough, Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Caleb Fletcher (Jennifer), Geo Hough (Amanda), Landon Jacobs (Emily), Christian Jacobs (Erica), Jasmine Morris (Maylon), Journee Morris, Marina Jacobs, Olivia Hough, Corbie Bryant, and Rubina Mullah; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Schenker, Rockville, MO and Lucille Hough (Donald), Rockville, MO; brothers, Bob Hough (Beth), Rockville, MO and Bill Hough (Anita), Appleton City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Hough; 2 sons, David Hough and Eric Killion; and 2 brothers-in-law, Wayne Schenker and Jesse Baker, Jr.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11:30a.m. at Click Cemetery, Nevada with Pastor James Damon officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00a.m. on Monday at Ferry Funeral Home.

Physical Therapist, Bobbi Rains Awarded Geriatric Clinical Specialist Certification

Golden Valley Memorial Heathcare Clinton, MO. – (July 27, 2023) – We are pleased to announce that Bobbi Rains, Physical Therapist, was awarded the Geriatric Clinical Specialist Certification by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

The Geriatric Clinical Specialist Certification recognizes physical therapists who are committed to providing the best evidence-based care to older adults. To obtain certification, candidates must successfully complete a rigorous examination, demonstrating specialized knowledge and advanced clinical proficiency in geriatric physical therapy. Certifications are valid for 10 years.

“Bobbi’s commitment to excellent patient care has always been evident in all that she does,” said Taylor Elwell, Director of Therapy and Ambulance Services. “This certification recognizes her as a board-certified specialist in the care of older adults, joining an elite group of less than 100 therapists in the state with this certification. We are proud of the work she does every day to provide patients our Golden Standard of Care.”


Obituary - Donnie Ray David

Donnie Ray David, age 69, Moran, Kansas was called home to be with the Lord Monday, July 24, 2023. He was born on March 8, 1954 in Iola, Kansas the son of Glee and Needa E. Holland David. He graduated from Marmaton Valley High School. He then attended Allen County Community College and then received a Bachelor's Degree from Pittsburg State University. 

He worked as a computer engineer and never becoming complacent, always learning new ideas and concepts in the industry. He was a talented photographer and videographer. He collected Invicta watches, liked NASCAR, traveling, and hunting turkey. He enjoyed many types of food as long as it was a "well" prepared meal. However, he was most happy and at peace when he was surrounded by and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Darius David, two brothers, Glee David Jr., and George David. 

Donnie is survived by a son, Andrew David and wife Brandy, a daughter, Casie Herrmann, two brothers, Buddie David and wife Diana, and Big John David and wife Anna, two sisters, Glea Pulliam, and Phyllis Miller, and three grandchildren, Thaddeus Herrmann and wife Megan, Coawan David and Ellieanna David.

A graveside service will be held 10 am Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the Bronson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, August 1st at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested Bourbon County Care to Share or Pancreatic Cancer Research. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com

Butler man arrested after traffic stop

On Wednesday July 26th around 7:41 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 59 year old Henry J. Hubbard of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Hubbard was arrested on the following charges 1.) Felony Bates County Sheriff's Office Warrant 2.) Misdemeanor Bates County Sheriff's Office.

Henry J. Hubbard was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently listed as bondable.

The lift chair has been paid for and the other donations you have sent to the bank or to their home have been spent for medications and medical expenses.

Tim, a former City of Butler employee was seriously injured in an automobile accident in early July. Your donations helped purchase a lift chair and pay for other expenses.

The love fund will remain open for another week. Tim and Debbie again, extend their appreciation for all your donations.

Subject is sought in connection with an aggravated burglary in or around the Sugar Valley Lakes area during the early morning hours of July 27, 2023.

First, we would like to thank our community who came to support the Blood Drive. 

We were able to collect 28 units of blood. Not everyone was able to give, but tired. We appreciate all of you so much!
