Clinton High School names new boys basketball coach

Clinton High School is proud to announce it has selected Andre Steward as its next boys basketball coach. Coach Steward will also begin his second year teaching social studies at Clinton Middle School this fall.

Andre, a 2008 graduate of CHS, is no stranger to the basketball court. He was a member of the 2008 CHS district championship team, which had an impressive season record of 23-5, and was ranked 5th in the state for class 4A. Andre was also an all-conference, all-area, and all-district player.

Coach Steward has taken his passion and love for the game and shared it with others through coaching. This year will be his third year coaching in the district. He also started a youth basketball organization in 2009.

The Nets Organization has grown to accommodate 10 teams. The 6th grade boys team recently competed at the Show Me State Games in Columbia, MO, placing third.

With the support from his significant other, Lacie Kenney, and children Andre, Amaya, and Brinlee, as well as a multitude of community and family members, Andre is excited for this new journey. “I am truly honored and humbled to receive this opportunity to become the head basketball coach in the town I was raised in. This community means a lot to me, I am glad to be a part of this journey.”

“The Clinton School District is excited for Coach Steward to take control of the boys basketball program,” says Activities Director, Kevin LaFavor. “Coach Steward knows the game really well, and as assistant coach has proven his ability to build relationships with student-athletes.

Andre has developed and built the Clinton Nets Youth Basketball Program over the past 7-8 years. This shows a commitment to not just basketball but the Clinton community as well.”
