Strong 2nd half leads Bears over Cardinals

Strong 2nd half leads Bears over Cardinals...

The Butler Bears opened the 2023 football season with a 40-20 win tonight over the Clinton Cardinals.

The Bears played very sloppy in the first quarter with one of the only offensive highlights being a 94 year touchdown run by Senior QB Dylan Davidson. The bears trailed the cardinals 12-8 at halftime.

Butler came out on fire in the 2nd half pulling away from Clinton for a comfortable win. The Bears was led on offense by Dylan Davidson who threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for 2 more, also Junior Xavier Wisdom had 2 touchdowns.

On defense the bears was led by Sophomore Jake Chandler who had 2 interceptions on the night taking one of those back for a touchdown.

The Butler Bears will hit the road next week as they travel to Cass County to take on the Sherwood Marksmen who lost tonight 55-14 to the Holden Eagles.

Obituary - Robert Harrison

Robert Harrison, age 67, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Lee's Summit Medical Center in Lee's Summit, Missouri. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to C.A.R.E. and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Robbie was born to Robert Harrison, who preceded him in death, and Darlene White Harrison on September 7, 1955. He graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1973.

Faded pictures that we found show him when he was young and proud. He ran hard and loud. He was a man to be reckoned with. He played ball, wrestled, fished, and drove his cars hard. He worked jobs that weren’t for the faint of heart; roofing, working on oil rigs, and iron working. The softer side of Robbie was not seen by many, but the love he had for his mother revealed it. He took care of her and they had a bond that death can’t break.

Robbie is survived by his mother, Darlene White Harrison, two sisters, Jill Harrison Barnhart, and Jana Harrison Collins, his nieces, Cristin Berg, Irelynn Collins, and nephews, Chance Barnhart and Jack Collins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
