Harrisonville High School 2023 Homecoming King & Queen Candidates

We would like to congratulate the the 2023 Homecoming King & Queen candidates at Harrisonville High School! 

Candidates include FRONT ROW: Ryley Wood, Elizabeth Osterberg, Sydney Farr, Lexi George, Emma Schrock, and Brooklyn Rhoney; and BACK ROW: Michael Moore, Mason Mitchell, Slade Holden, Riley Minsky, Andrew Droege, and Cameron Loeffel. 

The coronation of the King and Queen will take place before the football game on Friday, Sept. 8 at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Wildcats play Pleasant Hill at 7 p.m.


Obituary - Dustin Lynn Barker

Dustin Lynn Barker, age 32, of Peculiar MO, passed away on August 26, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO 64083.

Dustin was born April 26, 1991, to Eddie Barker and Donna Gaston. Dustin graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School in 2009. He was the owner of Dustin Barker Sculptured Trees and Removal General Contracting. He worked alongside his dad at the business until his passing. Dustin, who was also known by many as “Buddy”, had a heart of gold and everyone loved him. Some words to describe him from his family are thoughtful, giving, funny, loving, big heart, and intelligent. He had a big smile and an even bigger hug when he saw you. Dustin loved fishing, Chiefs games, his beloved dog “Thug”, and his family & friends. He will be greatly missed!

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Clay Gaston; paternal grandfather, Reggie Barker, and two uncles, Richard Miller and Ronnie Owens.

Here to cherish his memories are his parents, Eddie and Donna; his sister, Whitney Toates (Phillip); niece, Bishop Toates; grandmother, Carolyn Barker; aunts and uncles, Linda McKenzie (Buzz), Larry Miller, Jim Gaston, Debbie Gaston (Chris), Teresa Stocking (Chuck), Amie Fulmer (Brian), Debbie Owens; great aunts, Diana Harding and Kathy Gaston; cousins, Heather, Lauren, Kylee, Cole, Alyssa, Austin, Megan, Tad, James, Mandy, Jeff, Johnny Ray and many other family members and friends.

We had 3 black dogs show up at our house on (8/28.) Two of them are black lab and the third one is a crossbreed.

Obituary - Parker Mae Perkins

Parker Mae Perkins, infant daughter of Madisyn Layne Hall and Dakota Ray Perkins, passed August 25, 2023. 

In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents, Jamie Hall and Jerried Hall, maternal great grandparents, Craig and Linda Wood, Karen Rogers and LeRoy Hall, maternal great great grandmother, Ola May Earnest, paternal grandmother, Wendy Nichol, and paternal great grandmothers, Benita Nichol and Dorothy Wolford, uncles, Tucker Hall and Richard Perkins, and aunts, Baylee Hall, Destiny Perkins and Jessica Figgat.

Obituary - Thurlo Frank Forester

Thurlo Frank Forester age 75 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Monday, August 28, 2023 at Silverado Lee's Summit, Lee's Summit, Missouri surrounded by love and family.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Search warrant served in Butler

On 08/28/2023, at approximately 2:18pm Butler Officers were in the area of the 400 block of S. Mechanic Street when they observed Ronald Rudder to be outside his residence at 405 S. Mechanic Street. The Butler Officers had knowledge of active warrants for Ronald Rudder’s arrest.

The Butler Officers made contact with Rudder who then attempted to flee on foot but was unsuccessful in doing so. Rudder was taken into custody for the active warrants. While taking Rudder into custody, the Butler Officers recovered approximately 22.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine from Rudder.

Later that evening, a search warrant was applied for and granted for Ronald Rudder’s residence at 405 S. Mechanic. 

At approximately 11:12pm Butler Officers assisted by the Bates County Sheriff's Office executed the search warrant on 405 S. Mechanic Street. 

As a result of the search warrant, multiple items of drugs and drug paraphernalia were recovered as well as approximately 58 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a stolen firearm.

As a result of the suspected methamphetamine recovered from Rudder during the arrest, Rudder has been charged with the following:

Class C Felony of Deliver Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams Or Less Of Marijuana Or Synthetic Cannabinoid

The Class A Misdemeanor of Unlawful Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia - Prior Drug Offense

Formal charges in relation to the search warrant are pending at this time.

Stolen UTV from Warsaw High School

A 2016 John Deere Gator 4x2 was stolen from the Warsaw High School campus on Saturday morning August 26, 2023. 

Any help in identifying the man in the picture or the location of the missing Gator would be greatly appreciated.

Obituary - Clinton Ray Clampitt

Clinton Ray Clampitt, age 42, a resident of rural Fulton, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, August 28, 2023, at his home. He was born March 25, 1981, in Ft. Scott. Clinton attended school in Ft. Scott. He had worked in the receiving department at Wal-Mart in Ft. Scott. In earlier years, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing. He also was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and sketching. 

Five years ago, Clinton suffered a major debilitating stroke and has primarily been home bound ever since. Since his stroke, he enjoyed watching movies, playing video games and keeping up with his friends and family on Facebook.

Survivors include his parents, David and Brenda Hathaway of the home in Fulton and his son, Kyler Clampitt of Walnut, Kansas. Also surviving are a brother, Kyle Hathaway (Shannon) of Ft. Scott and three sisters, Angela Carpenter (Jeff), Rhonda Cole (Ben) and Rachel Thompson all of Ft. Scott, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends including his caregiver, Melissa Springston. Clinton was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Clampitt.

There was cremation. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, September 1st at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Clinton Clampitt Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
