Obituary - Larry Ardell Evenson
Born April 27, 1953, to Raymond and Elaine (Hanson) Evenson, Larry lived his rambunctious young life in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He attended high school there and went on to further his education at Bemidji State University.
Larry took to harvesting after he left school. While on harvest in 1974 he met the love of his life Catheryn Powers. They then married on April 12, 1974, and went on to have 3 children and celebrate 49 more years together.
Larry was a strong willed and a stubborn man at times, but he also had a great heart for his family. He was clever and full of knowledge that he gained through all his life experiences: he was a shade tree mechanic, a truck driver, a volunteer firefighter, and a great carpenter. He could break, fix and build anything. He spent many years in the Carpenters Union where he retired from on February 28, 2014, to enjoy his time with his ever-growing family. Larry enjoyed traveling, racing, spending time at the lake and floating down the river.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Raymond Evenson, his mother Elaine Frappier, his sister Linda Carlson, and his nephew Stanley (Buddy) Olson.
Larry is survived by his wife Cathy Evenson of the home, his children Nichole Hetherington and her husband Dale of Warsaw, MO, Nicholas Evenson and his wife Crystal of Lone Jack, Mo, Natalie Sams of Warrensburg, Mo. 9 grandchildren Brooklyn, Taylor, Dawson, Colter, Reese, Garrett, Aubree, Alaina and Dylan. 3 great grandchildren Thatcher, Sawyer and Eli. Neice Sharalynne (Sissy) Happe, nephew Shane Carlson and his beloved dog Poppy.
Larry will be remembered for all that he was to each and everyone of us. He loved his family deeply and will forever be missed dearly.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with internment at Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home.
