Here's the reveal for the 2023 BCCHF Memory Tree Ornament! Honor your loved one's memory and support our Foundation's efforts with your purchase. Ornaments are $15 for one or $25 for two ornaments.

Your ornaments will be displayed on the foundation's Memory Christmas Tree displayed in the hospital during the holiday season. This year, you will find the Memory Tree in the second floor lobby/waiting area just to the left after exiting the elevator.

You may choose to pick up your ornaments after the New Year, or before Christmas/as soon as they are ready – the choice is up to you. Your loved one will also be honored in a Memory Tree recognition list the foundation will share with our local media outlets. Thank you for generously donating to this fundraiser! Proceeds help provide healthcare scholarships to students in our area.

Structure fire in Harrisonville

Early this morning the Harrisonville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a home in the 300 block of Bird Street.

Crews believe the fire originated in the garage. No injuries were reported.


Way to go ladies

Miami R-1 would like to congratulate Brennah Filtingberger for receiving All-District Volleyball 1st Team and Shelby Fairbairn for receiving All-District Volleyball 2nd Team.

We would also like to congratulate all of the other athletes in our district (Archie, Ballard, Bronaugh, Drexel, NEVC, and Rich Hill) who received this honor.

Adrian Fall Festival set for October 28th

Mark your calendars!!! Adrian Fall festival will be Oct 28th from 9am-3:30pm - food trucks, vendors, mini train will be going, hay ride, and classic car/truck show with lots of prizes!


Rain Chances Steadily tapering off

Good morning, rain continues to taper off currently but some modest (50 to 70% chances) will continue through sunrise across the area as some more rain may make it's way through the region. 

Overall, between now and Friday, an additional trace to 0.25" can be expected across the region.


Garden City man seriously injured in Bates County crash

On Wednesday October 25th around 11:52 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County EMS, Adrian Fire Department and Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on AA Highway just west of CR NW 9001 in rural northern Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the eastbound 2020 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 38 year old Michael T. O'Connor of Garden City, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree.

Michael T. O'Conner sustained serious injuries and he was transported by ambulance to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.

Missouri man killed in a Bourbon County, Kansas crash

On Wednesday evening around 6:45 p.m. the Kansas State Highway Patrol along with Bourbon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on 54 Highway and Kansas Highway 3,

The Kansas State Highway says the accident occurred when a 2019 Toyota RAV4 driven by 75 year old Rebecca Shinn of Uniontown, Kansas was eastbound on 54 Highway and failed to yield to a westbound 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by 35 year old Heath Baker of Nevada, MO while making a left turn south onto Kansas Highway 3. The Wrangler then struck the RAV4.

Mr. Baker's passenger, 44 year old Nathaniel Morehead of Milan, Missouri was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Heath Baker was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with serious injuries, while Rebecca Shinn sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Via Christi in Pittsburg.

Obituary - Clara Elizabeth Sheehy

Clara Elizabeth Sheehy, age 94 of Butler, Missouri died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at her home in Butler. She was born July 11, 1929 to Lester Raymond and America Elenor Akins Anderson in Butler, Missouri.

Clara Elizabeth Sheehy’s wishes were to be cremated and remembered with fond memories. There are no public services scheduled at this time. Arrangements under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Clara spent her younger years in Butler where she was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School. She moved to Hickman Mills, Missouri in 1958, to Hume in 1977 and back to Butler in 1998. Clara was a homemaker, worked for Dr. Arnold, DDS and also spent a majority of her life as a business owner from 1977-1998. On October 21, 1952 she married Duane Mullis and to this union, three children were born. After the passing of Duane in 1973, Clara was married to Edward Sheehy until his passing in 1997. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

Clara is survived by two sons, Mark Mullis of Deepwater, Missouri and Brock Mullis and wife Karla of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Susan Evanoff and husband Gary of Deepwater, Missouri; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a former daughter-in-law, Albertina Robinson and husband Danny of Butler, Missouri. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; and both husbands, Duane Mullis and Edward Sheehy
