Obituary - Dale Edward Stump

Dale Edward Stump, 68, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his home. He was born May 4, 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Edward Earl Stump and Barbara Elaine (Hill) Stump.

He married Kella Alethea Bulmer on April 7, 1984 in California. She preceded him in death in October of 2014. He moved to Clinton, Mo., in 2020 from Gardenia, Ca., He was employed for many years with Northrup Gruman as a quality control inspector. 

He was a member of the New Life Christian Church in Gardenia, where he was the youth leader for the church, taught bible school, and whatever else the church needed him to do. Dale enjoyed running, building model trains and sceneries, playing his guitar, reading comic books, building and repairing computers, and tinkering.

Surviving are two daughters, Melinda Lea Parga (David), Gravette, Arkansas, and Alethea Dalindea Russi (Anthony), Ventura, Ca.; three sons, Dale Edward Stump, Jr., Redondo Beach, Ca., Jonathan Matthew Stump, Lawndale, Ca., and Joshua Daniel Stump, Long Beach, Ca.; six grandchildren, Aden Parga, Caitlin Parga, Chloe Parga, Mikaela Russi, Oriana Russi and Hezekiah Stump; two sisters, Betty Ellen James, Harrisonville, Mo., and Elaine Darlene Beaushaw (Jim), Clinton, Mo.; one brother, Dennis Murl Stump, Clinton, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Stump in 2010; and one niece, Christina Marie Hibbs.

Graveside services and interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Clinton. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.


Nevada man injured in rollover crash in Dade County

On Wednesday November 15th around 2:00 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Dade County along with Dade County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri Highway 39 around 6 miles south of Greenfield. Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the northbound 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 66 year old Jerry L. Spillman of Nevada, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway, traveled back onto the roadway, then overturned.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries.

Liberal man arrested after shooting in Barton County

On November 13th, 2023 at approximately 17:41hrs Barton County 911 Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a person being shot. Deputies were dispatched to a residence in rural Southwest Barton County
.
Deputies arrived on scene and located a 77-year-old male with a gunshot wound being treated by Barton County Ambulance personnel. It was determined the gunshot wound was non-life threatening at that time. 

Throughout our initial investigation, the suspect was identified as Joseph Barger (37) of Liberal, Mo. Deputies were told the suspect was picked up by an unknown person in an unknown vehicle. Deputies also received information that the suspect may still be on scene.

At this time in the investigation, it was determined that additional resources were needed to locate the suspect. Chief Deputy Ehrsam then requested Cedar County Sheriff’s Office to respond with their Drone, equipped with FLIR imaging, which provided information to Deputies and officers on the ground. 

Also requested was Missouri State Highway Patrol. Deputies cleared the residence where the incident took place along with the property and outbuildings. After hours of searching, and unable to locate Joseph Barger, Deputies then cleared the scene once it was processed.

On November 14th, 2023, Barton County Dispatch received an anonymous tip from a citizen that Joseph Barger was seen entering the apartments near 9th St. and Poplar St. Lamar Police Department along with Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location. 

Once Deputies and Officers arrived on scene, they surrounded the building and began making announcements. A short time later Joseph exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

On November 15, 2023 the Barton County Prosecutor, Michael Smalley filed for a warrant with the 28th circuit court. On the same day, Judge James V. Nichols issued a warrant for Joseph Barger on the following charges.

1. 565.050 Assault 1st Degree (Felony A)
2. 571.015 Armed Criminal Action (Felony Unclassified)

The Bates County Elks Lodge # 2653 member John Carrillo presented to the Butler Community Café a very generous donation check for $1,738.52. 

Accepting the donation was board member Susi Serna and Café volunteer John McHenry.

The Elks Lodge have been such generous sponsors for over 8 years and have already scheduled meals for 2024!

Obituary - Christina Quick

Christina Quick, 54 of Butler, Missouri passed away peacefully November 9, 2023 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation, with a visitation to be held Friday, November 17, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). 

Graveside services will follow in Meyers Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers to the Butler First Christian Church. Messages of condolence may be left for tbe family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Christina “Tina” Michelle Pitts Quick was born December 25, 1968 in Bolivar, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Rusty Stalker Pitts.

Tina attended the Willard School System and graduated in 1987. For several years she worked along side her mother, for Hale’s Fireworks in Eagleville, Missouri and around Christmas time in Mississippi.

Tina married Justin Quick on January 5, 2005 in Springfield, Missouri. They eventually moved to Butler, Missouri where she attended the Butler First Christian Church and worked with the youth group on Wednesday nights for several years. She also worked at Butler Walmart in several postitions, including the Electronics Department where she made many friends with those she helped.

Tina will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dick and Charlean Stalker and her paternal grandparents, Lester and Earnestine Pitts. 

She is survived by her husband Justin Quick of Butler, MO., father Raymond Pitts (Johnie) of Willard, MO., mother Rusty Jones of Bolivar, MO., three brothers, Jason Pitts (Kerri), Scott Pitts, and Joe Furtak (Rebecca) all of Springfield, MO., she also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Road work scheduled tomorrow in Cass County

CASS COUNTY (Harrisonville, MO) – Crews will close the ramp from NB I-49 to MO Route 2 for pavement repair work from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16. All work is weather dependent.


Two injured in Bates County rollover crash

On Tuesday November 15th around 12:55 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Bates County EMS and Butler Fire Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on I-49 at CRD NW 31 in rural Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the southbound 2006 Honda Pilot driven by 30 year old Rachel S. Sinclair of Butler, Missouri struck a ditch and overturned.

Rachel S. Sinclair along with a 7 year old male passenger in the vehicle both sustained minor injuries and both were transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow Service of Butler.
