Butler Boys Basketball Tournament in the books

The fight to hoist the first place trophy saw KIPP take on St. Michael. In a back and forth game that saw numerous lead changes and ties, KIPP, led by Smith with 20 points, would reign victorious with a final of 69-65. Moss would also add 18 points for the Gators.

Adrian matched up against KC Metro in the battle for 3rd place. KC Metro would prove too much to handle for the Blackhawks as they walked away with a 64-55 win.

The scoring was spread out for the Mavericks, who had 4 players in double figures on the game; Ferrel with 14, Leis with 13, Newark with 12, and Kent with 11. Rusow led all scoring on the night with 18, while Cole Hamilton tallied 16 on the night.

The Butler Bears and the Rich Hill Tigers fought for 5th place. It was another back and forth game that saw 9 lead changes and 7 ties. After 8 minutes of play both teams were knotted up with 14 points a piece.

The Bears went into the break with a lead, but the Tigers were able to battle back and force an overtime period on a buzzer beating 3 to end regulation. This would be Rich Hill's 2nd overtime game of the tournament as they also went 5 rounds with Adrian in the opening matchup. Butler would prove too much to handle for the Tigers who would end up falling 67-61.

Carter Trumbore led all scoring for the game with 36 points, he also added 9 rebounds, 5 assists and a block to his stat line. Dylan Davison chipped in 16 points on the night for the Bears. For the Tigers,

Brayden Chandler totaled 27 points and 9 rebounds while Dillon Coonce, who had a short night as he was dealing with foul trouble and eventually fouled out of the game, recorded 11 points.

It was a great week of basketball! Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this tournament.
