Snowfall expected to begin tonight into Friday Morning. Far northern Missouri can expect highest amounts. Light icing is possible tonight which may create a few slick spots early Friday morning.

Obituary - Julia Fern Haggard
Julia Fern Haggard, age 50, a resident of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 6, 2024, at her home in Pittsburg. She was born November 30, 1973, in Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Harriett Walker Wisdom and Gary Falletti. Julie graduated from the Ft. Scott High School with the Class of 1992.
She married John Haggard on December 3, 1994, at Pittsburg, Kansas. Julie had worked for several years at Wal-Mart in Ft. Scott. John and Julie later lived in Texas for several years before moving to Pittsburg. Julie loved sports of all kinds.
She was a great fan of the Ft. Scott Tigers and of the Pittsburg State Gorillas and went to as many of their games as possible. She also enjoyed country western music. Some of her favorite singers were Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks and George Strait. Julie had a gentle spirit and loved animals.
Survivors include her husband, John, of the home; two sisters, Amy Nance and Dustee Craddock-Harrison as well as her father, Gary Falletti. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Barbara Haggard, an aunt, Elizabeth “Alee” Walker, an uncle, Mike Falletti and numerus nieces and nephews and many close friends. Julie was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.
Rev. Dustin Morris will conduct a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 17th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Julie Haggard Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Obituary - Matthew Aaron Smith
Matthew Aaron Smith, 39, of Urich, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his home. He was born July 25, 1984 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of George Ray Smith, Jr., and Vonna Rae (Shatwell) Smith.
Matthew was formerly employed as a forklift operator for Church & Dwight Company, formerly Arm & Hammer, in Harrisonville, Mo. He enjoyed all sports but especially baseball and football.
Surviving are his mother, Vonna Smith of the home; one brother, Michael Smith, Urich, Mo.; one niece, Hailey Smith, Urich, Mo.; and several step-brothers and step-sisters.
No services are planned at this time. The family requests donations to assist with the funeral expenses. These donations may be left with the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.

Next snowfall tomorrow night into Friday
Another round of accumulating snow is expected tomorrow night into Friday. Heaviest amounts are expected across northern Missouri where 3 to 6 inches are expected.
Further south, generally 1 to 3 inches are expected. In addition to the snow, winds on Friday will be very strong gusting to 35 to 45 mph out of the NW possibly leading to blowing and drifting snow.
Beyond that, dangerous cold is expected to move into the area Friday night through Monday night with highs in the single digits, lows below zero and minimum wind chill values -10 to -30 degrees
Obituary - Christine Smith
Cornelia Christine Smith, 93, of Oklahoma City, OK, went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born June 27, 1930, in Richards, Missouri, to James Edward Rutledge and Cornelia Grace (Tapp) Rutledge. She was united in marriage to William R. Smith on July 30, 1950. (Preceded in death)
She was raised outside of Nevada and attended high school in Nevada. She was crowned the Nevamo Queen of 1947-1948 and graduated in 1948.
Chris is survived by her daughter, Debbie Drake and husband, Mike Drake of San Antonio, Texas; son Ken Smith and wife Leah Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter Lea Dawn Assink and husband Rev. Dale Assink of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; dear brother-in-law Marcel Normand of Pittsburg, Kansas; beloved nieces and nephews and numerous family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada, Missouri on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 6-8 p.m.
A graveside service of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the Berea Cemetery on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
She was raised outside of Nevada and attended high school in Nevada. She was crowned the Nevamo Queen of 1947-1948 and graduated in 1948.

Obituary - Castiel Alistair Grubb
Castiel Alistair Grubb, 8-month-old, son of Phillip Grubb and Haley Ford, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Via Christi Emergency Room in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was born April 12, 2023, at Overland Park, Kansas. He was named after an angel, was an angel here on earth and he is now an angel in Heaven.
Pastor Dale Samuels will conduct funeral services at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, January 11th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Following funeral services there will be cremation and private burial will take place at a later day at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
His name, Castiel Alistair, has the meaning, “My Cover is God, Defender of the People.” Castiel was born a month early and had to fight to live. He spent two weeks in the NICU and seldom cried. He will be remembered for his laid-back personality who was always satisfied and content.
Not only did he love his parents, but he also dearly loved his brothers. He had a variety of nicknames, such as Cas, Bebe. Despite his brief life, he made a significant impact and made memories that will last a lifetime. He was loved and cherished abundantly by many.
Survivors include his parents, Phillip Grubb and Haley Ford and two brothers Ryker and Shepard Grubb. Also surviving are grandparents, Joel and Angela Grubb, Barbara and Jason Falbo, Leslie Keaton and Dwight and Lana Miller and great-grandmothers, Marjorie Turner and Wanda Keaton and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Terry and Vicky Ford and his numerous great-grandparents.
Survivors include his parents, Phillip Grubb and Haley Ford and two brothers Ryker and Shepard Grubb. Obituary - Dale William Robinson “Robby”
Dale William Robinson “Robby”, 87, of Adrian Missouri, passed away Saturday January 6th, 2024 at Brookdale in Kansas City Missouri. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009).
Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm Thursday, also at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Hillside Cemetery, Toledo, Kansas. Robby was born in Madison Kansas in 1936 to Lenna and Bliss Robinson. He was raised on the family farm and graduated Madison high school in 1955. After high school Dale decided to explore the country as a truck driver. He was proud to be an owner operator and CEO of KBJ Inc. After retiring in 2000 he decided to be closer to home and spent his time with the optimist club in Adrian and his family.
Dale was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters, his parents J Bliss and Lenna Robinson and his daughter Kathy. He is survived by one brother Gerald, 4 daughters Kay, Diane, Brenda, and Jana. 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way, and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way, Along with many special nephews and nieces.
