Obituary - Edwin "Dick" Isaac Morris, Jr.

Edwin "Dick" I. Morris, Jr., 101, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, MO. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with the visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. 

Interment will follow in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Contributions may be made to the Belton Senior Center, Belton, Missouri

Structure fire this morning in Cass County

Early this morning the Belton Fire Department along with Western Cass Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the area of 210th and Cedar Ridge Road in rural Cass County.

During this time the temperature was at -8°. Fire Department units operated in these weather conditions for over 3 hours. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

Obituary - Ruth Ann Sell

Ruth Ann Sell, 66, of Clinton, Missouri passed away early Friday morning, January 12, 2024 at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Mo. She was born in Germany on October 22, 1957, the daughter of William Johnson Etters and Helga Herta Marie (Shall) Etters.

She married Edgar Merle Sell on January 28, 1982 in Clinton, Mo. He survives of the home. Ruth was employed for many years as a certified nurses aide. 

Most recently she worked for the Benton County Health Department in Warsaw, Mo. She was a 1975 graduate of Clinton High School. Ruth enjoyed bowling, quilting, cooking and crafts. She found her greatest joy in spending time with family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three brothers, Mike Etters, Clinton, Mo., Bill Etters, Oak Grove, Mo., and Bob Etters, Warrensburg, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

We want a special thank you to our doctor, Dr. Amie Etters. She was beside Ruth from the beginning to the very last. We would not have gotten through this without her.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions to Tebo Cemetery or Vansant Road Cemetery. These donations may be left in care of the funeral home. Harrisonville man killed in Cass County crash

On Sunday January 14th around 8:00 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and Central Cass Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of I-49 near mile mark 150.8 north of Archie.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the northbound 2021 GMC Sierra driven by 66 year old William F. Smith of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a bridge support pillar.

Mr. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident and he was transported to Frontier Medical. The truck was totaled and towed from the scene of this crash by J's Southland Tow. 

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 1st Fatality accident of the year 2024. Next of Kin notified
