Another Historic Night for Butler Bears Senior Carter Trumbore
On Thursday night, the Versailles Tigers came to town. The Tigers walked into the Bears Den with a 10-2 record. The Tigers come in with some impressive offensive firepower, scoring in excess of 90 points in 3 of their contest, averaging 78 points a game. The Bears come into the matchup sitting with an 8-4 record on the season.
The first half would see back and forth action with 9 lead changes and 6 ties in just the first 16 minutes of play. At the break the Bears held a narrow advantage with a score of 42-41. In the first half alone, Carter Trumbore compiled 39 points, shooting 6-9 from deep and a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.
The game would continue to be tightly contested throughout the 3rd quarter, but would take a turn in the 4th. In the final quarter, with 6 minutes left to play, a 3rd Bear would foul out of the game and leave the Bears to have only 4 men on the court. Despite being down a man, the Bears would continue to play tough, and find ways to score the basketball and get stops defensively.

With 3 minutes left in the game, fouls would once again catch up to Butler as they saw a 4th Bear foul out, leaving only 3 players on the court. Despite the discrepancy in the the last quarter, the Bears still managed to put up a respectable 79 points on the night, but the Tigers 90 would be enough to take a victory over the foul riddled Bears.
While it was not the outcome that Bears faithful were hoping for, it was a gam in-which the Bears showed a tremendous amount of heart, and proved they could hang with anyone in a 5 on 5 situation.
The story of the night was Butler Senior Carter Trumbore dropping a 63 point performance on the Tigers. While it might be cold outside, Trumbore’s hand was red hot tonight. Carter hit 8 three pointers, and went 14-15 from the charity stripe. With this performance, Tumbore grabbed yet ANOTHER Butler record.

Carter not only etched his name in the Butler record books, but in the Missouri record books as well, according to MSHSAA, Carter is now sitting at #7 all-time for points in a half with 39, and 18th all-time for points in a game in the entire state.
