Drexel Police seeking public assistance

Law Enforcement is seeking help in identifying these two (2) individuals. They are potentially associated with the recent vehicle pursuit that ended in Drexel on Wednesday night. They were last seen at the Dollar General at approximately 8:40 pm.

Obituary - Gregory Keith Mason

Gregory Keith Mason died peacefully at home in Raymore, Missouri surrounded by his family on February 27, 2024 at the age of 62.

Greg is survived by his wife Diane, son Jeff, daughter in law Jordan, and grandson Wyatt of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, son Jonathan and fiancĂ©e Morgan Dungan of Belton, Missouri, and daughter Sidney Mason of Raymore, Missouri. Greg is preceded in death by his parents Dean Sr. and Ruth Mason, along with his brothers Dean Jr. and Jeffery Mason.

Greg was born on November 22nd in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Beatrice High School in Beatrice, Nebraska in 1980. After graduation he moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He then met and married his wife Diane in 1989. Over 34 years, the couple welcomed three children and many foster children into their home.

His children remember him as a loving father who was constantly engaged in his childrens school, activities and community.

The visitation is scheduled for March 8th at 1pm at Cullen Funeral Home (612 West Foxridge Drive, Raymore, Missouri) with the service to follow at 2pm. Immediately following the services there will be a Celebration Of Life at Merle’s Tavern in Peculiar, Missouri. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Greg’s life.

Obituary - Craig Bollin

Craig Bollin, age 82, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at his home surrounded by loving family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 MO-150, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64082. 

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rosary will be said at the start of the visitation. Later that day, Craig will be laid to rest at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.

Craig was born on August 22, 1941 in Keokuk, Iowa. After graduating high school, Craig honorably served his country in the United States Army. In the fall of 1976 he was joined in marriage with his wife Catherine (Paschke) on November 13th. Their union was blessed with two daughters. In life, Craig was a man of Catholic faith and was a faithful parishioner along with his wife, at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in Lee’s Summit. 

Craig loved traveling, gardening, fishing, deer hunting, and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoyed many hours watching his daughters play basketball from grade school through high school. Craig really enjoyed and filled his time with many of these after his retirement. He also spent part of his retirement building homes with Habitat for Humanity.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy (Wilkens) Bollin; and step-father, Ralph Bollin.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 47 years, Catherine Bollin; daughters, Melinda Pendergraft (Tim) and Erika Stubbs (Scott); brother, Calvin Bollin (Brenda); sisters, Martha Goetz and Doris Duvendack (Jim); and four grandchildren, Sierra, Brianna, Savanna, and Austin Pendergraft.

Windy & Highs in the 70's

Temps warm into the 70s across much of the area today. Southerly winds gust to around 20-30 MPH this afternoon. The warmth continues Sunday; however, winds gust ~35-40 MPH. Drier air moves into the area elevating fire weather concerns Sunday afternoon. Burning is discouraged.


State Farm Student Athlete of the week Annabelle Rowe

We are happy to announce this week's Athlete of the Week, Annabelle Rowe! Annabelle was nominated by Coach Ott who stated, “she finished off her Sophomore wrestling season with a state championship in just her second year ever wrestling. She became the first girls placer at Adrian but also the first girls state champion and only girls state champion out of Bates County.” Congratulations Annabelle, it was a pleasure speaking with you!

About Annabelle:
Annabelle is a sophomore at Adrian High School. She is involved in volleyball and wrestling. We asked Annabelle what she believes it takes to become an elite athlete. She told us, "you have to put in a lot of extra work. Going to the gym, staying outside of practice, it is all of the extra time spent when nobody is looking. On top of working in the off time and putting in the extra work you need to eat right.”

•Favorite sport: Wrestling
•Who inspires her: “Coach Jones. He has helped me a lot throughout the season. He was the most hyped up and always supported me. Coach Jones also had to wrestle at a higher weight class and he really helped me with my techniques to help with this obstacle.”

•Favorite athlete: “Spencer Lee, he is also a wrestler. He has worked his butt off to get where he is. It’s really fun to watch him and his technique.”

•Favorite sports memory: This year, winning state. Overall, the experience was amazing. Between wrestling, the hotel room, etc.

•Favorite sonic drink: cranberry mango sprite

Congratulations on a first place finish at state, that is an amazing accomplishment Annabelle!

Two vehicle accident claims the life of Nevada woman

On Friday March 1st around 12:47 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 43 Highway around 4 miles north of Liberal.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the northbound 2020 Kia Optima driven by 68 year old Janice D. Huston of Nevada, Missouri struck the rear of the northbound 2003 International tractor trailer.

Janice D. Huston was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident at 1:15 p.m. and she was transported to Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar. This is Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 8th fatality accident of the year 2024. Next of kin notified.

Obituary - Richard "Rich" Allen Scott

Richard "Rich" Allen Scott, 56, of Freeman, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.

Rich was born November 5, 1967, in Kansas City, MO, to Fred Emmit and Barbara Ellen(West) Scott. Rich's journey through life can be characterized by his jovial personality and his desire to help others in need.

Rich grew up in Grandview, MO and attended Blue Ridge Christian School. Rich had a passion for soccer and was a valued player on his high school soccer team. Due to his incredible talent on the field, Rich was regularly invited to practice with the Kansas City Comets professional soccer team where he grew a great friendship with the players. Rich moved to Freeman, MO in 1984 and made his home there until his passing.

Rich worked for Johnson County Top Soil in Stilwell, KS for ten years. Rich had a knack for all things mechanical and later pursued a career as an automotive mechanic. He eventually found his niche at Hafkemeyer Motors in Kansas City where Rich continued the Scott family trade and became known for his ability to fix anything with an engine, whether mechanical or electrical.

Rich was blessed with and took immense pride in his children and grandchildren.

Rich will be remembered by his family and friends for his infectious laughter and onery sense of humor that always left those around him with a smile on their face.

Rich is survived by his parents, Fred and Barbara Scott of Freeman, MO; two daughters, Anissa Scott of Harrisonville, MO, and Morgan Scott of Warrensburg, MO; two sons, Sebastian King of Grandview, MO, and Conrad King (Darian) of Harrisonville, MO; and two granddaughters, Ava King and Mahala Duchesne.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00pm-6:30pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. A private family interment will be held at the Freeman Cemetery.
