State Farm Student Athlete of the week Annabelle Rowe

We are happy to announce this week's Athlete of the Week, Annabelle Rowe! Annabelle was nominated by Coach Ott who stated, “she finished off her Sophomore wrestling season with a state championship in just her second year ever wrestling. She became the first girls placer at Adrian but also the first girls state champion and only girls state champion out of Bates County.” Congratulations Annabelle, it was a pleasure speaking with you!

About Annabelle:
Annabelle is a sophomore at Adrian High School. She is involved in volleyball and wrestling. We asked Annabelle what she believes it takes to become an elite athlete. She told us, "you have to put in a lot of extra work. Going to the gym, staying outside of practice, it is all of the extra time spent when nobody is looking. On top of working in the off time and putting in the extra work you need to eat right.”

•Favorite sport: Wrestling
•Who inspires her: “Coach Jones. He has helped me a lot throughout the season. He was the most hyped up and always supported me. Coach Jones also had to wrestle at a higher weight class and he really helped me with my techniques to help with this obstacle.”

•Favorite athlete: “Spencer Lee, he is also a wrestler. He has worked his butt off to get where he is. It’s really fun to watch him and his technique.”

•Favorite sports memory: This year, winning state. Overall, the experience was amazing. Between wrestling, the hotel room, etc.

•Favorite sonic drink: cranberry mango sprite

Congratulations on a first place finish at state, that is an amazing accomplishment Annabelle!

*Each week the athlete is awarded with a certificate and a gift card to Sonic. Each Athlete of the Week will be considered for one $500 scholarship which will be awarded in May.
