Obituary - Delbert “Del” Wayne Starner

Delbert “Del” Wayne Starner, age 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

Del was born in Nevada, Missouri on October 6, 1944 to Lloyd Starner and Estelle (Wagner) Starner. He attended school in Belton, Missouri where he played football, gained lifelong and cherished friends and graduated top of his class. Del honorably served his country in the United States Army then went on to continue his education at a local community college where he gained his Associates Degree. 

He dedicated much of his life to the Kansas City Fire Department as a firefighter, eventually retiring as Captain. In life, Del was a man made for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and trips to Alaska and Wyoming. Del was also an avid dog lover and after retirement he volunteered at the Lost Dog Registry for a number of years.

Del was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Estelle Starner; and sisters, Wanda Gragg, Wilma Alexander, and Peggy Brandon.

He is survived by wife, Theresa Starner of the home; sisters, Norma Jean Russi of Avondale, Colorado, Betty Hughes of Cole Camp, Missouri, and Bobbie Ross of Springfield, Missouri; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Obituary - Jimmie "Jim" Dean Burris

Jimmie "Jim" Dean Burris age 67 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his home in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Cremation with a Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Way to go Travis!

We would like to congratulate Harrisonville High School senior Travis Eddleman on signing his letter of intent to continue his academic & soccer career at Central College in Pella, Iowa! 

During high school, Travis earned All-Conference, All-District, All-Metro, All-Region, & All-State honors. He was the All-Region Goalkeeper of the Year twice.

He holds records at HHS for shutouts & saves and is listed in the state record books in both categories as well. Congratulations Travis!
