Obituary - Kevin Patrick Black

Kevin Patrick Black, 54, Stotesbury, MO passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his home.

Kevin was born December 18, 1969 to Enoch and Lois Black in Neosho, Missouri. He grew up in Cassville, Missouri where he fell in love with nature, camping, trout fishing, and all things outdoors. 

In 1993, Kevin was united in marriage to Lori. He spent many years as a truck driver and traveled all over the United States. He also worked at Heartland, where he dedicated his time to helping misguided youth in his community. He loved trucking and the youth, but his passion was for dispatching. He worked for the Vernon County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher for the last several years, where he helped people and developed lasting relationships with his fellow dispatchers and officers.

Kevin enjoyed spending time with family and friends and cherished every memory made, including little league baseball, band concerts and competitions, camping, and impromptu family dinners. He was always there to show love and support. He left a legacy that will be cherished always and not forgotten by many.

Kevin is survived by cherished friends and companions Delena and Micheal Grant of the home; wife, Lori Black; mother-in-law, Nancy Rogers; children, Jerri Black, Anthony-Amy Black, Amber-Waylon White, Candrah Black, Luke-Hannah Black, William-Delia Taylor, Tearra Taylor, Appachey-Jessica West, Cynthia-Ethan Sease, McCayla Starbuck, and Austin Starbuck; grandchildren, Jacob, Malachi, Asher Black, Logan, Hayden, Autumn, Axle, Braelyn, Asher Taylor, Nakoda, Maxeen, Lukah, Braxton, and Teagen; brother, Douglas Black; sisters, Diana Rinehart, Gayle Yetter, Colleen Pierce and Dusty Black.

Many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Enoch and Lois, Father-in-law, Hubert Rogers, grandson, Caysin, and his beloved chihuahua, Amelia.

Kevin was loved dearly by many and will never be forgotten for his commitment to life and all he loved.

Rest in our Lord's Arms Kev, we will take it from here. We love you. Farewell our dearest friend!

Search continues for subjects who fled from police northwest of Adrian

 Deputies are currently searching the area near AA/E Highway and County Road 1001 northwest of Adrian for 2 subjects who fled on the pictured 4 wheeler from a traffic stop. The subjects ditched their helmets and some of their outer layers of clothing along their running path.

We do not have a clothing description at this time, if one becomes available that information will be updated.

We had a big Powerball winner thanks to last night's drawing! A ticket sold at Casey's General Store resulted in a $50,000 win for a player in Adrian.

Obituary - Delbert “Del” Wayne Starner

Delbert “Del” Wayne Starner, age 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

Del was born in Nevada, Missouri on October 6, 1944 to Lloyd Starner and Estelle (Wagner) Starner. He attended school in Belton, Missouri where he played football, gained lifelong and cherished friends and graduated top of his class. Del honorably served his country in the United States Army then went on to continue his education at a local community college where he gained his Associates Degree. 

He dedicated much of his life to the Kansas City Fire Department as a firefighter, eventually retiring as Captain. In life, Del was a man made for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and trips to Alaska and Wyoming. Del was also an avid dog lover and after retirement he volunteered at the Lost Dog Registry for a number of years.

Del was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Estelle Starner; and sisters, Wanda Gragg, Wilma Alexander, and Peggy Brandon.

He is survived by wife, Theresa Starner of the home; sisters, Norma Jean Russi of Avondale, Colorado, Betty Hughes of Cole Camp, Missouri, and Bobbie Ross of Springfield, Missouri; as well as many nieces and nephews.
