Cass County Sheriff's Office seeking public assistance

This morning around 4:45 a.m. Deputies responded to an area near 307th St. going Northbound on I-49 in Archie regarding a two vehicle accident.

They made contact with a driver who said he was rear-ended by someone. The driver who Deputies made contact with said he drove approximately a quarter mile further to get to a safer location following the incident — so he never saw the person who was driving.

The vehicle the other person was driving has since been identified as a tan 2002 Chevy Blazer.

When Deputies located the Chevy Blazer, it was unoccupied and parked on the shoulder of the highway near the crash site.

Deputies then surveyed the area, looking for the driver of the vehicle. They were unable to locate the person. An Everbridge call was sent to the surrounding area to notify residents.

The Chevy Blazer has since been towed. Our Office is seeking the driver of this vehicle to know their well-being since they were involved in the incident. This vehicle is registered to a man from Blue Springs.

Anyone who saw the incident or anyone who may have information about this vehicle is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at (816) 380-5200.

Benton County Sheriff’s Deputy Saves Woman Trapped by Flood Water

From the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, 04/29/24:

“A shout out tonight for Benton County Deputy Burns. He saved the life of one of our residents early this morning who’s car was swept of the low water crossing at Hastain, which is Deer Creek. Just after midnight a local resident called in a female screaming for help.

Deputy Burns arrived in short order, shed his duty gear and went into the raging water without regard for his own safety and brought the victim back to the bank where she was treated by EMS and given a ride home.

Deputy Burns is one of our new hires who is serving our great community. We are proud of you Deputy Burns and thank you for your selfless efforts! You give real meaning to the statement “to protect and serve”
