A line of thunderstorms is expected to move through the region Monday night capable of producing strong damaging winds, large hail and a brief tornado. Additional severe weather is possible on Wednesday.

UTV fatality accident in St. Clair County

On Saturday May 4th around 5:25 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a UTV accident on private property around 3 miles west of Collins.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occured when a eastbound 2017 Polaris Razor driven by 25 year old Brandon L. Damewood of Humansville, Missouri lost control and overturned.

A passenger in the UTV 22 year old Ariel A. Culbertson of Humansville, Missouri was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident. 

This is Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 28th Fatality of the year 2024. Next of kin notified.

Long brothers putting in work on the wrestling mats

We would like to congratulate the Long brothers of Butler High School. Today Kellen (Pictured on the right) won the 16u 157 pounds freestyle state wrestling championship, qualified for National Freestyle Dual wrestling team for Missouri and qualified for nationals at Fargo, North Dakota!

Little brother Hunter (Pictured on the left) won 2nd place in the 14u and qualified for the National Missouri freestyle dual wrestling team.

Such a great accomplishment for these brothers, They always represent the community and the sport of wrestling with much respect and class. Kellen and Hunter are the sons of Dale and Lindsey Long. 

 

Severe weather outlook Monday-Wednesday

An active weather pattern continues for the start of the week. Strong to severe storms may be possible through early parts of the week, especially Monday night. Stay tuned to the forecast in the coming days.

Obituary - Emily Louise Martin

Emily Louise Martin, age 27, resident of Fort Scott, KS died Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 8th, at the Community Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday May 7th at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
