Attention Adrian residents
With uncertain Spring weather upon us, the Adrian fire department and emergency services would like everyone to know protocols regarding storm siren operation:
When sirens are activated as a tornado warning, they will continue for 3 minutes. They will NOT be activated for an 'all clear'.
If another 3 minute activation is initiated, it will be due to a secondary tornado notification.
Sincerely,
Ken Newsome, Adrian EMA Director
Thanks everyone!
It was just a couple of months ago that the Adrian Optimist Club contacted me and expressed that the club had a proposal to discuss with me. The club wanted to start an annual fund-raising event that would help benefit the Adrian fire department with future equipment purchasing needs. It was stated that they wanted to do something for the fire department to show their appreciation for what the department does for the community. First, let me say thank you to the club members, and to the community for your continued support. Serving in our community and wherever else we are needed, is a true privilege. After taking a few minutes to try and wrap my head around the idea and their jester of kindness being shown once again, I knew this proposal was going to quickly move forward, and it did.
Last Saturday morning, breakfast was being served at 6:30 A.M. out at the Optimist building and everyone was hard at work. Optimist members were cooking and members of the Bates County Jr. Livestock Committee were busy helping with serving and doing clean up duties as needed. There were so many different things going on that day, but that didn’t stop people from coming in and showing their support, and we can’t thank you enough for coming. We enjoyed each visit, and we were glad to have the opportunity to tell a little bit about the fire department and its continued growth. Along with a great breakfast, a 50-50 raffle was also held. Mr. Paul Cumpton was the winner of the 50-50 raffle, and wouldn’t you know it, Paul donated his share right back to the fire department. Thanks Paul, we appreciate your continued support.
We are especially proud of the support that our community shows us in so many ways. We strive to meet your expectations to the best of our ability, and we hope that you are just as proud of the department as we are.
With that said, I must also thank the men and women who make up the Adrian Fire Department. What a group! They are the true work force of the department, and we are so lucky to have each one of them. I cannot express how much I personally appreciate what they and their families sacrifice while serving as a volunteer.
Providing emergency services of any kind is very expensive and that will never change. I would encourage you to give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back for being such a strong and supportive community. We are a proud department (not arrogant) and we want to serve those who need our assistance anywhere and anytime, and you play a large part in how we are able to do that. Thanks again to everyone for helping to keep your emergency services departments operating as safely and effectively as possible.
Sincerely,
Chief Dizney
