Adrian Optimist Club: Ballard R-2 School District Student of the month

The Ballard R-2 School District is pleased to be working in conjunction with the Adrian Optimist Club to honor a Student of the Month for the 2023-24 school year.

The Student of the Month for April/May is Freshman, Abby Bergen, the daughter of Micah and Kelsi Bergen. This month's special theme is "Perseverance, Integrity, Loyalty, and Honesty". Abby currently participates in Volleyball, Track, Envirothon, and Cheerleading - and in her free time, she also enjoys camping and being out at the lake. Her future plans are to someday be a veterinary technician.

The Ballard staff have said about Abby: "Abby always tries her best to be successful. She is a hard worker and has a kind heart! She is always a pleasure to be around and I know she will be successful in anything she sets her mind to! I'm proud to have been one of her teachers!"

"Abby has shown perseverance her whole life. This year in particular, transitioning into high school, I am proud of how well she has taken on the burden of extra curricular activities, as well as more responsibility in school work.

She is loyal to a fault, trustworthy in her character, and we all know that she is honest, because she says everything that comes into her head with no filter. Just kidding. We love Abby. Ballard is better because she is here. Congratulations Abby!"

"Abby Bergen is a delight. She has a bubbly sweet personality that makes you smile. I have yet to see her in a bad mood. I see her being a good friend and thinking of others often."

"In class she is quick to help me or her peers. I can count on her to show up, even if she doesn't want to. Congrats!!!"For Abby’s hard work in school, she has received a certificate of recognition from the Adrian Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks.”
