One arrested after domestic assault in Rich Hill

On Wednesday 05/15/2024 Rich Hill Police Department was dispatched to Greenlawn Cemetery west of Rich Hill to a possible Domestic Assault in progress. 

Upon arriving a male subject was placed into custody for assault on a 24hr investigative hold. Charges were filed with the Bates County Prosecutor's office Warrant was issued.

36 year old Jonathan R. Randolph was arrested on 2 counts of Domestic Assault 2nd Degree and 1 count of 2nd degree Kidnapping. Randolph is currently being held at the Bates County Jail with a $30,000.00 cash only bond.

Rich Hill woman arrested after motor vehicle accident

On Tuesday May 14th the Rich Hill Police Department was dispatched to a two vehicle accident. 

Christina A. Adams age 48 of Rich Hill was arrested on 6 Rich Hill Municipal Warrants for  failure to appear in court and she was issued 4 citations as a result of the crash.

She was arrested and booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and she is currently listed as bondable.

Rich Hill man arrested on probation and parole warrant

On Tuesday May 14th the Rich Hill Police Department arrested 22 year old Ronald D. Derr III of Rich Hill.

Mr. Derr was arrested for a Felony Probation and Parole Violation Capias Warrant. 

He was taken into custody with incident and he is currently being held on no bond in the Bates County Jail in Butler.

Mississippi man arrested after pursuit

On May 17, 2024 at approximately 1:30am Dispatch was notified of a pursuit that started somewhere north of Harrisonville coming south bound. The pursuit was terminated south of Harrisonville on I 49. Deputies were in place at the North end of Bates/Cass line on I 49. Deputies observed the vehicle south bound on I 49, traveling at over 100mph with no headlights on.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle refused to pull over and continued at speeds of over 115mph south on I 49. Additional staff were called to assist in the pursuit, along with officers from Adrian Pd. 

The pursuit continued south bound on I 49. Assistance was requested from Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Pd. Several sets of spike strips were set up in Vernon County waiting for the pursuit to arrive. 

At approximately the Compton Junction intersection, Bates County Deputies were able to successfully deploy the Grappler and brought the car to a stop. One male subject from Mississippi was taken into custody.

The subjects Subaru was towed from the scene.
Charges are being submitted to the Bates County Prosecutor.

Garden City woman seriously injured in Cass County rollover accident

On Thursday May 16th around 6:20 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Route F just south of 123rd Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the northbound 2017 Toyota Rav-4 driven by 56 year old Tamara J. Falk of Garden City, Missouri crossed the centerline of the roadway, traveled off the left side, struck a tree and overturned.

Tamara J. Falk sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Obituary - Sylvia Ellen Woodall

Sylvia Ellen Woodall, age 85, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Guest Home Estates in Ft. Scott. She was born April 30, 1939, in Pleasanton, Kansas, the daughter of John Emery Henderson and Mary Olive Wilcox Henderson. Sylvia graduated from the Pleasanton High School. 

She married David Allen Woodall on January 31, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma. Sylvia was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and caring for her family.

Survivors include her three children, Beverly Rast (Walter) of Coolidge, Arizona, Robert Woodall of Branchville, South Carolina and John Woodall of Ft. Scott, Kansas. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, David on December 1, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Crosby, a son, David Nolen Woodall, a great-grandson, Lance Haley, Jr., a brother, Emery Henderson and a sister, Frances Campbell.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, May 16th at the U. S. National Cemetery. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery. Following services, the family will have a time of visitation at the Carriage House, 301 S. Main St. 

The family will also receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Sylvia Woodall Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
