Obituary - Deborah Sue Baxley

Deborah Sue Baxley, age 67, a resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Ascension Via Christie Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas. Debbie was born March 20, 1957 in Fort Scott, the daughter of Cecil Otis Lancaster and Vivian Louise Towle Lancaster. She graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1975. 

Debbie was employed at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, then she went to work for her sister Marsha at Marsha’s Great Plains Deli. At the Deli you could find Debbie out front at her table taking orders and visiting with the costumers as they came in. She spent many hours at the ball park watching her brothers play, then when the nieces and nephews starting playing she would go to all there games as well. She had great pride the last several years getting to spend time with her own grandchildren and taking them out to eat and driving around.

Debbie is survived by her daughter Shelly Rowe (Dan) of Fort Scott, Kansas, two grandsons, Anthony and Christopher Rowe; two brothers Tom Lancaster (Kay) and Don Lancaster, both of Fort Scott, one sister Carolyn Washburn (Gary) of Eagle River, Alaska; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Vivian Lancaster, a sister Marsha Lancaster, and a grandson, Tucker Rowe.

A private family graveside will take place at the Memory Gardens Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Obituary - Mable L. Anderson

Mable L. Anderson, age 83, of Belton, Missouri passed away May 28, 2024, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Cullen Funeral Home, Inc., 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri 64083 followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery, Neosho, Missouri at 3:00 p.m.

Mable was born in Duenweg, Missouri on August 27, 1940, the daughter of Alfred Bruton and Alice Ledford. After graduating high school, Mable was joined in marriage with her husband, Bill Joe Anderson on September 12, 1959. Together they were blessed with two sons, Bill Joe Jr. and Michael Lee. Mable created a successful career selling Avon products for over 60 years. Mable was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Raymore. She also very much enjoyed playing the organ, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Mable was preceded in death by parents, Alfred Bruton and Alice Ledford; her loving husband, Bill Joe Anderson; two sisters, Annabelle Gass and Sandra Kroll; and brothers, Paul David Bruton, and Jamie Bruton.

She is survived by her children, Bill Joe Anderson, Jr. (Kelly), Michael Lee Anderson (Carla); brother, Richard Bruton; sisters, Delores Stewart (Bruce), Mildred Granger, Margaret Batson (Rodney), Sheryl Smith, and Norma Yarrington; sister in-law, Gayle McCoy (John); two grandchildren, Ashley Lyon (Mitch) and Shane Michael Anderson (Kacie); two great grandchildren, Aubrey Rae and Mason Wayne.

Obituary - George Leroy Stewart

George Leroy Stewart was born on June 12, 1953 in Oregon City, Oregon, the son of Alfred and Flo Stewart.

He passed away on May 3, 2024 at Alpine Breeze Nursing Home in Raytown, Missouri at age 70. George is survived by three children: TJ Stewart, Lisa Stewart, and David Stewart; and siblings Shirley Shannon, Margie Bedell, and Alfred “Little Al” Stewart.

George was preceded in death by three children: Christie Stewart, Michael Stewart, and Nicholas Stewart; his parents; and one brother, Skip Stewart.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill, Missouri from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

13 year old juvenile hurt after dirt bike crash this morning in Cass County

On Wednesday May 29th around 10:29 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle accident on S. Grand River Road around 6 miles east of Freeman, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the southbound 2006 Honda CRF 150 driven by a 13 year old juvenile male from Freeman, Missouri crossed the centerline and struck the northbound 2022 Ford Ecosport driven by 87 year old Marietta Davis of Freeman, Missouri.

The juvenile male sustained serious injuries and he was transported by ambulance to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Semi truck accident south of Archie

We have had several reports and messages throughout the day about the semi truck accident south of Archie this morning in the southbound lanes of  I-49 around mile marker 146.2 near the Bates and Cass County line.

We have yet to receive a report on this accident as of now but we do know that several crews spent multiple hours cleaning up this accident .
