Church fire early this morning in Nevada

On Saturday August 17th around 3:00 a.m. the Nevada Fire Department along with mutual aide from several agencies responded to a fully engulfed church fire located at Austin Boulevard and Washington Streets in Nevada.

The cause of this fire is under investigation and the First Christian Church has been a historic site for 75 years.

Update: Father and son shot to death in Freeman

Updated Press Release The Cass County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the shooting deaths of two men in the area of Main St. and Washington St. in Freeman Missouri.

Deputies were called to the area around 1:00pm today after reports of two subjects had been shot. One victim was pronounced deceased on the scene, the other was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Sheriff’s Office can identify the deceased as 47-year-old Michael Spear and 27-year-old Brian Spear, both of Freeman. The subjects are father and son. A male subject is being questioned. The Sheriff's Office is not looking for any additional subjects at this time.

The Cass County Investigators and CSI team are currently processing the scene. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dolan-West Dolan Fire Department and West Peculiar Fire Protection District.

Shooting in Freeman

August 16, 2024

The Cass County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a shooting in the area of Main St and Washington in Freeman Missouri. Deputies were called to the area around 1:00pm today after reports of 2 subjects had been shot.

One person is being questioned. The Sheriff's Office is not looking for any additional subjects at this time.

One victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The second victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigators are currently on scene.



Obituary - Judith Ann Siebert

Judith Ann Siebert was born April 1, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas to Aubrey E. and Amanda (Blankenship) Siebert, both preceded her in death. She is survived by eight siblings Mavis, Karen, Carol, Don, MarthaLynn, Patty, Margaret, and Norman. She was preceded in death by six siblings, Mary, Sherry, Leon, Emmitt, James, and Joe. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family, community family, and friends.

Judy loved her pets and plants. She was one of a kind and embraced her nickname of "Crazy Judy", even introducing herself using it. She was full of surprises and she always spoke her mind. She lived life to the fullest and there wasn't anything she wanted to do that she didn't do. She never missed a Bingo game and had the most fun of anyone present. She will be missed by many. Judy passed peacefully in her home in Blue Mound, Kansas on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

There will be a Celebration of Judy's life at noon, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Blue Mound City Park. In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved to the Blue Moon. Memorial contributions in memory of Judy are suggested to Angel Hearts Rescue in care of Schneider Funeral Home, PO Box J, Mound City, Kansas 66056. Dirt Track Legend Scott Bloomquist Killed In Plane Crash

Dirt track legend Scott Bloomquist was killed in a plane crash near his home in Mooresburg, Tennessee on Friday morning. The Rogersville Review reported the news shortly after 8:30 a.m., indicating that local authorities confirmed that Bloomquist was “involved in a small aircraft crash.”

Bloomquist, a Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, will go down as one of the greatest Dirt Late Model drivers of all-time with a resume that is nearly unmatched.

In addition to his on-track success, Bloomquist had a personality and persona that sparked the emotions of Dirt Late Model fans all over the country.

In recent years, Bloomquist had battled a variety of injuries including a leg injury suffered in a motorcycle crash, prostate cancer, a foot injury suffered prior to the 2023 Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora Speedway and shoulder surgery prior to the 2024 season. He was also recently hospitalized following a “bizarre experience” with a horsefly bite.

Despite all of this, Bloomquist remained motivated to get back to victory lane at Dirt Late Model racing’s biggest events.

Bloomquist and his father enjoyed flying vintage airplanes and have a collection that was showcased during the Road to Eldora in 2022.

St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Case Update :

Case Update:

On November 21, 2023, Rodney Nitchals, 38, Appleton City, was arrested on a 24 hours hold by a St. Clair County Detective for Child Molestation 1st, a Class A Felony. 

Upon further investigation of the case, Nitchals received additional charges of Child Molestation-1st Degree, Statutory Sodomy-1st Degree-Deviate Sexual Intercourse With a Person Less Than 14 Yrs Old, and Incest. Nitchals was held on a No Bond warrant.

On August 15, 2024, Rodney pled guilty to Statutory Sodomy-1st Degree receiving a sentence of 10 years in the Department of Corrections.

Warrant arrest in Rich Hill

On 8/3/2024 Lacey Harper was arrested by Rich Hill Police for Bates county warrant.

The warrants are for 1.) Endangering the welfare of a child X2. 2.) DWI.

Lacey Harper was arrested and booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler, Missouri.
