Obituary - Laura Eileen Holmes

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laura Holmes, who left us at the age of 55 due to liver failure. Laura was a devoted mother, sister and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Born to a loving family, Laura was the cherished sister of Terry, Timothy, Johnny, and Michael. She shared countless memories with her brothers, creating bonds that will live forever in their hearts.

As a mother, Laura was a guiding light for her four beloved children: Justin, Christopher, Brittany, and Quentin. She poured her heart into raising them, instilling in them the values of love, compassion, and resilience. Her unwavering love will be remembered by her children as they carry her legacy forward.

Laura’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A celebration of life will be held in the coming days where all that knew her are invited to share their memories and honor her journey.

Cremation with a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Obituary - Theresa A. Cruz

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Cruz, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, on September 3, 2024. Born on April 17, 1956, to Pascual and Felicitas Cruz, Theresa grew up in Fontana, California, alongside her siblings.

Theresa began her career working in a convalescent home, where she showed her compassion and care for others. On December 25, 1975, she was blessed with her son, Joseph Cruz. Theresa then devoted her life to being a homemaker, where she found joy in spending time with her family and friends. Her warmth and kindness extended to everyone she met, and she quickly became the heart of her community.

Later in life, Theresa’s family grew as she welcomed Heather, the daughter she had always wanted. Together, Joe and Heather blessed Theresa with four wonderful grandchildren: Alyssa, Justice, Mariah, and Jax. The last 25 years of her life were filled with love, laughter, and endless moments of spoiling her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She was also known for her love of bingo, where she made many friends and created countless memories. Her joy for life was contagious, and she touched the lives of everyone around her with her generous spirit and loving heart.

On August 30, 2024, just after 11:00pm, the Linn County Sheriff’s Communication Division received a call from a citizen reporting an injury at the Pleasanton Saddle Club, located at 10297 Scott Rd. Pleasanton, Kansas.

It was reported by bystanders that a horse was out of control and kicked and stomped its owner. The owner, who was identified as Mark Davis a 52-year-old male of Parker, Kansas, had received injury to his head and chest. Mr. Davis soon thereafter expired due to the injuries.
