On Tuesday September 17th around 6:33 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on MO-7 just North of S Famuliner Road.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the north bound 2016 Jeep Patrior driven by a 36 year old Justin K. Mickelberry of Garden City, Missouri experienced a tire blow out causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway.
Mr. Mickelberry sustained minor injuries and was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri for treatment.

Butler JH Volleyball travels to Sherwood
The Butler JH Volleyball team coming off a 1st place victory in the Crest-Ridge Volleyball Tournament traveled to Sherwood this evening for a tri-match against Sherwood and Adrian.
The Butler A team and B team both got victories tonight over Sherwood and Adrian. Butler A team won against Sherwood in 2 sets and won against Adrian in 2 sets.

Former Osceola Bank Executive Sentenced for $1.5 Million Fraud Scheme
An Osceola, Mo., woman was sentenced in federal court on Thursday, September 12th for a fraud scheme in which she stole over $1.4 million from the bank where she was employed over a period of more than 20 years.
Stacia Wilson, 60, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes to three years and 10 months in federal prison without parole. The court also ordered Wilson to pay $1,435,491.05 in victim restitution.
On May 9, 2024, Wilson pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud. Wilson admitted that, while she was employed as a vice president of St. Clair County State Bank in Osceola, she defrauded the bank by creating false and fictitious loans utilizing the stolen identity information of bank customers. She deposited the loan proceeds into her personal bank accounts to use for her own benefit.
Wilson’s fraud scheme, which lasted more than 20 years from 2000 until it was discovered in December 2022, resulted in numerous fraudulent loans and a $1,528,321 loss to the bank.
This case was prosecuted by Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney David M. Ketchmark. It was investigated by the FBI and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Field fire west of Passaic
The Adrian Fire Department along with the Butler Fire Department has been battling a corn field fire around 6 miles NW of Passaic.
The fire is said to be caused by a bearing that went out of a combine and sparked the blaze. This fire is still ongoing at this time. We will update when we know more.

Butler man arrested on warrants
On September 17th around 12:30 a.m. the Butler Police Department arrested 40 year old Jason M. Leemasters of Butler, Missouri.
Mr. Leemaster was arrested for two outstanding city of Butler warrants 1.) Nuisance Violation 2.) Illegal Burning.
Jason M. Leemasters was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently is being held on a $275 cash only bond.
