Butler Lady Bears Volleyball gets 2nd place today in the Lamar Tiger Classic

 

We would like to congratulate the Butler Lady Bears Volleyball team who finished 2nd today in Lamar Tiger Classic tournament!  Also, congratulations to Tandee Hiser for being named to the All Tournament team! Way to play hard ladies!!

Jackknifed semi truck south of Butler

On Saturday September 21st shorty before 9:00 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and the Butler Fire Department responded to a jackknifed semi truck off the northbound lanes of I-49 around 5 miles south of Butler.

The driver traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail before traveling down the side of the roadway and jackknifing on the outer road near Rattlesnake Hill.

No one was injured in this crash.




Obituary - Kent Summers

Kent Summers, age 75, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the Clinton Christian Church in Clinton, Missouri.

Burial to follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Roseland, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to the Clinton Christian Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Butler Elementary School Teachers selected by the Sonic Foundation

We would like to congratulate two Butler Elementary School Teachers Penny Smith and Crystal Eldred for being selected by the Sonic Foundation and Butler Sonic to attend The Ron Clark Academy Experience in Atlanta, Georgia this fall!

Located in Southeast Atlanta, The Ron Clark Academy is a nonprofit school that also serves as a demonstration school – a place where visiting educators engage in professional development.

The two-day RCA EXP training is an interactive, immersive learning experience where educators observe classes and participate in dynamic workshops that teach teachers how to ignite a passion for learning, provide meaningful support, encourage academic excellence, foster authentic relationships, and ensure a climate and culture where all students and staff thrive

Obituary - Owen Dale Elliott

Owen Dale Elliott, age 72, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024. He was born December 27, 1951, in Nevada, Missouri, the second child of Eugene F. and Sadie E. Elliott.

Owen worked as an auto mechanic alongside his father at Elliott Garage on Spring Street for thirty-five years. He was interested in becoming a fire fighter from an early age because his father was a member of the El Dorado Springs Fire Department.

Owen followed in his father’s footsteps, officially joining the department at the age of eighteen. He served the department until his retirement as chief in 2018. He was also an instructor for the Missouri State Fire School.

Owen married Shauna Lea Beason on July 7, 1978. They were together until Shauna’s death on June 14, 2014.

Owen loved to bowl and to study anything pertaining to the history of the Civil War. He was a quiet man who was there when his family, friends, and community needed him. He will be greatly missed.

Preceding Owen in death were his parents, Eugene F. and Sadie E. Elliott; his brother, Phillip Nolan Elliott; and his wife, Shauna Elliott.

Survivors include his daughter, Angela Johnson (Justin); granddaughter, Kausha Cluck; grandson, Blake Cluck; great-grandchildren: Hanlea, Millie, and Lincoln Beckford; niece, Autumn Gerster; nephew, Kade Gerster (Kasee); sister, Ava Green (Daniel); and many aunts and cousins.

Fallen tree hits house in Butler

Fallen tree hits house in Butler...

The Butler Fire Department along with the Butler Fire Department is on scene of a tree that has fell through the roof of a house at 220 S. Mechanic Street.

The limb of the tree is said to have busted solar panels and knocked a whole in the roof. No one is reported injured in this incident.
