Butler Public Library welcomes new Library Director

The Butler Public Library would like to welcome our new Library Director, Tiffany Scrogham! Tiffany is a former employee of the library. 

She has her Master's in Library Science and has experience being a Director. Her love for the Library speaks volumes. We are so happy to welcome her back and look forward to working with her!

Introducing the 2024 Adrian High School Homecoming Candidates

Freshmen: Avaleigh Saathoff is the daughter of Kris and Dara Saathoff. She is involved in Football and Basketball Cheer, Golf, FFA, FBLA, Youth Group, STUCO, and Band. Avaleigh said the best part about homecoming is seeing some of my favorite people come together to show our Blackhawk Pride. Jaxon Dizney is the son of Brian and Starla Dizney. He participates in Band, Boy Scouts, FFA, and 4H. Jaxon said the best part about homecoming is the parade.
 
Sophomores: Milah Minnick is the daughter of Jeremy Minnick and granddaughter of Dee Perrymann. She is involved in Cheerleading and FFA, Milah said the best part of homecoming is cheering at the game and the dance. Maddox Allan Talley is the son of Jessica Talley. He participates in MMA, ACC Youth Group, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Maddox said the best part of homecoming is the way our town comes together.
 
Juniors: Lilly Talley is the daughter of Manny and Amanda Talley. She is involved in Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, FFA, FBLA Student Council, National Honor Society, and ACC Youth Group. Lilly said the best thing about homecoming is being a part of all the traditions - float site, bonfire, school spirit, and spending time with friends and classmates. Ryan Kramer is the son of Todd and Kim Kramer. He participates in FBLA, Basketball, and ACC Youth Group. Ryan’s favorite thing about homecoming is the float site.
 
Seniors: Callie Ferguson is the daughter of Brad and JaNell Ferguson. She is involved in FFA, FBLA, National Honor Society, Bates County Livestock Judging, Golf, and Basketball. Callie said the best thing about homecoming is the way it brings everyone together to make memories that will last a lifetime. Kaden Shannon is the son of Matt Shannon and Christian Dennison. He participates in FFA, Student Council, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and ACC Youth Group. Kaden said the best thing about homecoming is the bonfire.

Obituary - Lacy Francis "Bud" Clark

Lacy Francis "Bud" Clark, age 89, Mound City, Kansas passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1935 in Sharon, Kansas the son of Oliver Francis and Mary Jane Sharp Clark. He graduated from Mound City High School in the Class of 1954.

Bud was united in marriage to Carol Carothers on July 22, 1956 in La Cygne, Kansas. He worked as a journeyman welder for Kansas City Power and Light before retirement. He was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church and IBEW Local #412.

He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and restoring old vehicles. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Victor and Richard Clark, and a sister, Betty Avery. Bud is survived by his wife, Carol, three daughters, Denise Rackley and husband, Kevin, Vickie Morgan, and Karen Sue Rackley and husband Jay, a sister, Darlene Youngblood, three grandsons, Ryan and wife Kryssy, Arron, and Cory, and six great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the Woodland Cemetery in Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday September 24 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice. 1317 S. Butler man arrested for domestic assault

On Saturday September 21st around 9:27 p.m. the Butler Police Department arrested 42 year old Justin R. Hammer of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Hammer was arrested for the following charge 1.) Domestic Assault - 1st Degree. 

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently listed as bondable.

Free Little Library at Butler City Hall

The City of Butler is proud to announce a partnership with the Butler Public Library. You will find a free Little Library in front of City Hall. This Little Library will have books that are donated from the Library. 

We encourage the community to come get a book and even leave a book. We hope that this partnership will increase everyone's love for books and reading.
