Nevada man arrested on 2nd Degree Class D Assault Charge

On September 24th the Nevada Police Department arrested Austin Haws of Nevada, Missouri after a assault that occurred at a gym in Nevada.

The Nevada Police Department says the incident occurred when Mr. Haws allegedly got into an argument with the alleged victim at a local gym which escalated into Haws shoving the victim before the victim shoved him back and Haws punched the victim twice in the face. 

While talking with Nevada police officers, Haws allegedly said the argument started because the victim looked at him wrong.

Austin Haws was charged with 2nd Degree Class D Assault Charge and his bond was set at $10,000 cash only.

Obituary - Terrell R. Warren

Terrell R. Warren age 79 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.

Cremation with a Celebration of Life Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Spencer Hall next to St. Peters Episcopal Church, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Inurnment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas at a later date.

Obituary - James Paul Kliner

James Paul "Jim" Kliner, age 85, Hume, Missouri passed away Sunday September 22, 2024. He was born June 5, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas the son of Harry and Alberta Camp Kliner. He served his country in the United States Air Force.

He retired from Colgate Palmolive. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia, his parents, and siblings, John, Pat, Joyce, and Geraldine.

Jim is survived by a son, Michael Kliner, a daughter, Teresa Ham, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 pm Friday, September 27, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery.

Adrian man injured in early morning rollover

On Wednesday September 25th around 5:45 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Bates County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident on Route AA, north west of County Road 2001.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the eastbound 2003 Honda CRV SUV driven by a 34 year old Micah P. Guerra of Adrian, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, and overturned.

Micah P. Guerra suffered serious injuries and was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Belton police officers continue the fight against drunk driving

On 10-7-2023, a Belton police officer stopped David Biggs near N Scott and Carnegie for multiple traffic violations. Biggs was arrested and taken to the station for suspicion of DWI. Biggs' BAC was more than twice the legal limit. Biggs was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while revoked.

On 6-28-2024, another Belton police officer stopped Biggs in the same area after he nearly caused a traffic crash. Biggs was again arrested for suspicion of DWI. Once again, Bigg's BAC was more than twice the legal limit.

On 9-3-2024, Judge Eftink sentenced Biggs to 4 years in the department of corrections for aggravated DWI and felony driving while revoked / suspended.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at New Covenant Fellowship, Garden City, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at New Covenant Fellowship, Garden City, Missouri with interment at Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
