Countywide Disposal cleans up Butler on Amnesty Day

Today Mid America Live caught up with Lee Mclain owner of Countywide Disposal in Butler as he was picking up the all kinds of bulky and large items today for the City of Butler amnesty day.\

Once a month the city of Butler has a clean-up amnesty day for the city limits only. 

Countywide Disposal will take1 large item from each residence. 






Obituary - David Wayne Parker


David Wayne Parker, age 62, Mound City, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was bon on January 27, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Donnie and Wanda Sharp Parker.

He spent most of his working days in the food industry, including The Rainbow in Las Vegas, The Wagon Wheel in Warsaw, Go Chicken Go, Garrett’s BBQ in Mound City and Food Fair. He also worked Security at Kansas City Power and Light.

David was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved to spend time with his son Raymond and watch him grow up into a beautiful young man. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing music, cracking jokes, eating home cooking and BBQ. He was a talented musician and liked to fish.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Miller, father, Donnie Parker, and a brother, Todd Parker. David is survived by is son, Raymond, and Raymond’s mother, Carrie Swain, four brothers, Marty Garret and wife Melissa, Dale Todd and wife Tammy, Jeremy Parker and wife Bobbiejo, and Donnie Parker and wife Stephanie, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City, Kansas. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.

Obituary - Glennie Lee Carmichael

Glennie L. Carmichael, 85, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, with a visitation 10:00-11:00am, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will follow in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs.

Glennie was born June 2, 1939 in Harrisonville, MO, a daughter of James and Natalie (Gustine) Stice. She lived in Cass County, primarily in Harrisonville, most of her life. She attended Hickory Grove Rural School #85 and Smith Rural School #73. Glennie was united in marriage to Harvey Ben Carmichael on October 19, 1956 at the home of Rev. Joe Brewster in Harrisonville. She was member of the Harrisonville First Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary #4409 in Harrisonville. Glennie loved dogs, and treated her two dachshunds, Misty and Sug, like family.

Glennie was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, on May 4, 1983; her parents; and three brothers: Norris Stice, Robert “Bob” Stice and infant brother, Jimmie Stice. She is survived by her two sons: Kevin Carmichael and his wife, Joanne, Grandview, MO; and Danny Carmichael, and his wife, Theresa Ryan, Raymore, MO; a sister, Patty Ring, Holden, MO; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office Apprehends Fugitive

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office reports as of Monday September 30th that fugitive James C. Moore has been taken into custody following a public request earlier this month for information regarding his whereabouts.

Henry County Missouri Sheriff’s Office stated that “Thanks to the overwhelming support and numerous tips from our community, we were able to locate and safely apprehend Moore.



Update: Lee’s Summit Police Investigating Shooting/Kidnapping

Lee’s Summit, MO – On 9/28/2024 at approximately 1730 hours, officers were dispatched to an address in the 2200 block of NE Town Centre Blvd on the report of a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they located an unlocked back door and made entry into the residence. Officers located a single victim inside the home who was suffering from several gunshot wounds.

The victim, a 43-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where he remains in the ICU with critical injuries. Officers worked with the Kansas City Missouri Police Department to identify a 33-year-old female victim who had been kidnapped from the shooting scene along with a juvenile. The female and a juvenile were located safely in Kansas City, Mo. On 09/28/2024 at approximately 2300 hours; Missouri State Highway Patrol located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

The suspect vehicle failed to yield and Missouri State Highway Patrol pursued the suspect vehicle with the assistance of Johnson County MO Sheriff’s Office, Warrensburg Police Department, and Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle lost control, the suspect, 33-year-old Kody Michael Holmes was arrested and a juvenile passenger was found unharmed. Detectives submitted the case to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and Holmes was charged with 1st Degree Assault, Kidnapping (x2), and Armed Criminal Action (x3), with a bond of $500,000 cash only.
