Butler Flag Football Team Remains Undefeated

The Butler Bears Flag Football team beat Midway on the road yesterday, 22-6 to move to 7-0 on the season. The bears will now be headed into the start of the playoffs next weekend.

We would like to wish the Bears the best of luck in their playoff run! If you get a chance come out and support these kids!

Rich Hill shocks Osceola on homecoming

The Rich Hill Tigers (2-4) hit the road this evening to take on the Osceola Indians (1-5) for homecoming for the Indians.

Osceola would score first with 3:32 seconds left in the first quarter on a short touchdown run making the score 6-0. 

Osceola would score again on a 60 yard interception return for a touchdown by Senior Kolten Garver. The Indians would get the two point conversion and lead Rich Hill 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. 

Rich Hill would get on the board after a fumble recovery by Preston Turner followed by a short run touchdown run and two point conversion by Turner. Rich Hill would cut the lead to 14-8.

Osceola would force a safety with 14 seconds left in the first half to take the halftime lead 16-8 over Rich Hill. Osceola would add to the lead in the 3rd quarter after a long touchdown run by Junior Beau Hoeme to push the lead to 22-8.

Rich Hill would roar back in the final quarter and score on a quarterback sneak with 9:50 left  to cut the lead to 22-14. 

The tigers wasn't done and would tie the game with 1:47 left on a 37 yard touchdown pass to Sophomore Will Klinksick to tie the game 22-22. 

Osceola would attempt to throw the ball down the field late in the game and it was intercepted by Sophomore Will Klinksick and taken back around 50 yards for the game winning touchdown as Rich Hill would walk off win 28-22.

Rich Hill will now move to 3-5 on the year and the tigers will host the Liberal Bulldogs on October 18th at 7pm. Osceola will move to 1-6 on the year and they will host the Drexel Bobcats next Friday.










Clinton man injured in Henry County crash

On Saturday October 12th around 1:55 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 7 one mile west of NW County Road 401.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the east bound 2013 Nissan driven by a 19 year old Jordan M. Naylor of Clinton, Missouri failed to slow and struck the rear of an east bound 2000 Jeep driven by a 44 year old Dane S. Vankirk of Springfield, Missouri. The 2000 Jeep then ran off the side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Mr. Naylor sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.

Harrisonville wins Northmen Soccer Classic Championship

We would like to congratulate the Harrisonville High School Boys Soccer team for winning the Northmen Soccer Classic Championship game today at Oak Park!! 

The final score was 2-0 Harrisonville! Way to go cats! 

Butler Lady Bears Volleyball finishes 3rd today in El Dorado Springs Tournament

The Butler Lady Bears Volleyball team finished 3rd today in the El Dorado Springs Tournament. The lady bears started the day with Pool play Lamar-25-21, 25-17 Clinton 25-17, 25-19 Diamond 25-19, 21-25.

Bracket Play 417 Mavericks 25-15, 26-24 El Dorado Springs 17-25, 13-25 Harrisonville 20-25, 25-19, 25-1. Way to go lady bears!

We would like to congratulate Tandee Hiser, Kylee Dubray & Kamden Fennewald for making the all tournament team.

Highlights from the Battle of Island Mound Commemoration Event

Highlights from the Battle of Island Mound Commemoration Event held today. Our special thanks to Peggy Buhr for these photos...

Today several people enjoyed the commemorate the Battle of Island Mound, the first Civil War battle in which uniformed African American soldiers engaged in combat in rural Butler.

Some activities from today included live stage performances, a living history walking loop and other Civil War-themed events. Attendees saw a presentation of the Buffalo soldiers and a first-person portrayal of Lt. Patrick Minor, an officer who successfully led a Union artillery unit during the Battle of Westport.

The living history walking loop featured a rope-making and Dutch oven demonstration, a bison program with the opportunity to meet the Buffalo Soldiers and Lt. Patrick Minor.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Bates County Sheriff’s Office is on scene of a stalled semi truck in the fast lane of southbound I-49 around mile marker 133 north of Butler.
