Obituary - Larry Gene Bloomfield

Larry Gene Bloomfield, age 72, Prescott, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024. He was born on July 8, 1952, in Prescott, Kansas, the son of Russell and Irma Allen Bloomfield. He graduated from Prescott High School. He worked for Epps Elevator before he began a career with Kansas City Power and Light working at the La Cygne Generating Station.

He was a member of the IBEW, he volunteered for many years in the Prescott Fire Department, and, served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed watching westerns, target practice using period pistols, and horses. He even helped for many years with Coal Center Days horse pull.

Larry was happiest when he was mounted on a horse All these things had meaning for Larry. However, the very most important thing to Larry was family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry is survived by three sons, Keith Bloomfield(Brandi), Brian Bloomfield(Sarah), and Luke Bloomfield(Abby), two brothers, Darrell Bloomfield and Roger Bloomfield, and five grandchildren, Zaria, Paige, Landen, Presley, Aubrey.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in the Prescott Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 pm to service time at the Pleasanton Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of choice. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.

Obituary - Paul William Bock

Paul William Bock, 58, of Adrian, Missouri, passed away on November 2, 2024 in Adrian, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Adrian City Park on Friday, November 08, 2024 from 2 PM to 5 PM.

Paul was born on March 27, 1966, to Gordon William Bock and Shirley Mae (Grotten) Bock in Kansas City, MO. He attended Adrian School District and graduated from there as well. He worked in several places over the years. 

He was married to Janet Plummer on December 2, 1989, and had 4 beautiful children. Paul loved to get the chance to hunt and fish. Paul was fiercely devoted to his family and cared for each one with all his heart. He would do whatever he could to help any and everyone.

Paul was preceded in death by his father; his wife; a son, Joseph William Bock; and his sister, Karen White. He is survived by his mother, Shirley (Kevin) Thompson; daughters: T'Lisa (Cyle O'Doniel) Bock of Sedalia, MO, Shanna (David) Cantrell of Adrian, MO; and Avery Allen of Michigan; sons, Charles (Alexandria) Plummer of Harrisonville, MO; and Cody Rogers of Highlandville, MO; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Michael Bock; and other dear family and friends.

Road rage incident leads to arrest in Belton

On 11-6-2024 at 4:00 PM, Belton Dispatch received a report of a road rage incident on southbound I-49 in which a male pointed a firearm at another motorist.

Belton Officers were able to locate the vehicle after it exited at 58 Highway and attempted to conduct an investigative stop. The vehicle conducted a U-turn on 58 Highway and fled back toward I-49. 

In the process, the suspect vehicle struck an uninvolved motorist and then left the scene. Belton Officers pursued the vehicle on 58 Highway and then northbound on I-49 into Grandview. 

The vehicle exited at 140th St in Grandview where it struck a light pole. The driver ran from the vehicle and was quickly apprehended with the assistance of a Cass County Deputy. A pistol was located in the suspect's vehicle and a computer check revealed the suspect was already on probation for a weapons offense.

On 11-7-2024, the Cass County Prosecutor's Office charged Andre Johnson of Raytown with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm - Dangerous Felon / Prior Conviction, Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Johnson is being held in the Cass County Jail with NO BOND available.

Belton Police Department Case Update...

Regarding the armed carjacking we reported on 9-24-2024, a third individual has been charged in this crime.

On 11-6-2024, the Cass County Prosecutor's Office charged Alex M. Harbin of Kansas City with Accessory Vehicle Hijacking - Serious Physical Injury / Deadly Weapon / Dangerous Instrument / Vulnerable Person.

Harbin is being held in the Cass County Jail with NO BOND available.

Obituary - Mae J. Kelly

Mae J. Kelly, age 90, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at Carnegie Village in Belton, MO.

A graveside will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri at 1:00 p.m.

Mae was born in Cedar County, Iowa on May 1, 1934, the daughter of Winfell F. Herring and Nellie P. Turner. Shortly after graduating, Mae met the love of her life, John A. Kelly and later they were married on October 7, 1950. Together they were blessed with two children, Wyatt and Deborah. Mae loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah Kelly; four sisters, Rachel, Dixie, Zella, and Kerry; one brother, Freemont; and daughter in-law, Stacy Kelly.

She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, John A. Kelly; son, Wyatt Kelly; two granddaughters, Kaylin Rainwater (Dustin) and Crystal Kelly (Sean); and three grandchildren, Wyatt, Brendon, and Emily.
