Cold conditions through tonight
Very cold temperatures are expected today, and with steady north breezes, wind chills will remain in the single digits and teens.
After a very cold night tonight, temperatures will warm up Friday through the weekend.
Busy evening for firefighters on Tuesday
At 7:44 P.M. Tuesday evening, the Adrian Rural Fire Department along with mutual aid assistance from Butler Fire Department, responded to a barn fire southeast of Adrian off CR 11004.
Fire units arrived on the scene within 12 minutes of the initial call out and found the 40’ x 60’ barn to be fully involved along with a pickup truck that was in the driveway.
Firefighters quickly went to work, and the fire was placed under control and overhaul operations were in progress within thirty minutes of arriving on scene.
While working the fire, we were also dispatched to a medical call in Adrian. This call was picked up and handled by fire personnel who had become available in town as well as Bates County EMS.
We were assisted by: Butler Fire Department, Bates County Sheriff’s Department, and the Bates County Ambulance Department.

Death Investigation In Rural Miami County Kansas
At 2:58 a.m. on December 4, 2024, emergency personnel responded to a death investigation in the 22800 block of Lewis Drive, located in rural Miami County.
While on scene, additional resources were requested to assist with the investigation. Tragically, one juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene, while another juvenile was taken into custody.
The scene is still active and the investigation is ongoing. No further details are available at this time.

Butler Varsity Lady Bears fall to the Stover Lady Bulldogs tonight in the Clinton Tournament
The Butler Varsity Lady Bears fell short tonight to the Stover Lady Bulldogs 56-36 in the second round of the Clinton Tournament.
Sophomore Kylee Dubray led the Lady Bears in scoring with 18 points and Sophomore Kadyn Cook added 9 points.
The Lady Bears will be back in action on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. against either Clinton or Smith-Cotton. Enjoy some photos from the game below:
Clinton Police Department looking for wanted man
The Clinton Missouri Police Department is seeking help from the public in locating a wanted person. Matthew Ramirez, age 31, has a felony warrant for Sexual Assault - Sexual Sodomy. He has evaded capture since January of this year.
Recent information places him back in the Clinton, MO area, but he has been known to flee and conceal himself in the Kansas City area as well.
We ask that anyone with information as to his whereabouts contact the police immediately. He is known to be violent/ display violent tendencies, so please do not try to confront or detain this individual. Attached to this post are photos of the individual for reference.
Obituary - Christopher Booyer
Christopher Matthew Booyer, age 46, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at his home in Warsaw, Missouri. A memorial service will be later announced and held where family and friends are invited to come together to honor Chris’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Christopher Booyer Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home, or the family asks that you consider making a donation to the GoFundMe account set up in memory of Christopher Matthew Booyer. May Chris’s memory live on in our hearts, and may he find eternal rest and peace.
Chris is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert Booyer and Debra Booyer. Survivors include his siblings, Michal Booyer of Concordia, Missouri, and Heather Schwartz of Calhoun, Missouri with whom he shared countless memories. Christopher was also survived by his two children, Brittany Booyer of Calhoun, Missouri, and Jordan Wilson of Adrian, Missouri. He was a cherished grandfather to three grandchildren; Ravin Booyer, Kenedy Wheeler, and Avery Booyer, as well as countless family and friends. Chris leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Throughout his like, Chris was known for his boundless compassion and unwavering support for those who knew him. He had a gift for making every person he encountered feel valued and cared for, always ready to lend a heling hand or offer a comforting word.
Chris was an adventurous spirit, always seeking new experiences and exploring the beauty of life. Those who knew him will remember his infectious laughter, his kindness, and his ability to uplift everyone around him. He was a true friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Chris’s light will live on through the lives he touched and the memories shared. In this time of sorrow, we celebrate his life and the indelible mark he’s left on our hearts.
